He knew what it meant to be enslaved. And when he saw Christian slave traders killing the husbands of his converts and selling the women into slavery, he didn’t stay silent.
He wrote The Letter to Coroticus, condemning their actions and warning them of divine judgment.
He called them “bloodstained fellow-citizens of demons” and said they were handing over “the members of Christ as it were to a brothel.” Strong words!
This wasn’t just a theological debate for Patrick. It was personal. It was justice. It was faith in action—1,500 years before William Wilberforce fought for the same cause.
Patrick’s example reminds us that faith isn’t just about belief; it’s about standing against evil.
