Subject: ALERT Alumni | June Update

Dear Alumni:
Here is the latest update on happenings at ALERT over the last few weeks:
DEPLOYMENTS
As I mentioned in a previous letter we made another trip to Durant, MS to help with some cleanup and tarping of roofs. God continues to move in the lives of those in that area and over 50 people have come to know Christ as a result of the ministry of service to homeowners. Samaritans Purse will be extending their stay so if you are interested in giving a few days of your labor go to their website and sign on.

GRADUATION
We completed our graduation ceremony this past weekend. We had 30 men who graduated, with the higher number being attributed to program changes. Requirements for graduation were shortened to 30 weeks in hopes that a shorter length of start to finish might encourage guys to stay for the entire time. We will be monitoring this change to see if it does increase the number of men who attend.

TRANSITION
I received word yesterday that the father of John Erickson (Unit 31) passed away from a sudden heart attack and went to be with the Lord. Please be in prayer for their family through these difficult times.

NEW CALLING
The LaLone family completed their tour of duty here and will be returning to Pennsylvania. Doug is scheduled to deploy to the Middle East this fall so be in prayer for both him as well as his family who will reside in PA awaiting his return. We greatly appreciate Doug’s leadership in the Diving program and he will certainly be missed.

FLIGHT
Plans are in progress to re-start the flight program this September. Rather than ask men to commit for a full ten weeks of training (and the added extra cost that ensues) we will be running an accelerated program, with the men flying as much as possible (weather permitting) - allowing them to achieve personal goals of certifications in a much shorter time. If you think you might be interested in coming back give us a call and we can go over more details with you.

SCHOLARSHIPS
If you would like to see your donation go directly to assist present or future ALERT men you can designate such and your gift will go to the scholarship fund for that purpose only. You cannot give a donation for tax purposes to a specific individual.

REGIONAL ALERT ALUMNI REUNIONS
I am still looking for more input regarding this concept. If you haven’t already contacted me let me know your thoughts about doing a focused weekend of enrichment and fellowship in your area by responding to this email.

MOBILE RESPONSE TEAM
We’re still looking for any guys that would like to assist on this team. Responsibilities include local and longer distance service projects, deployments, some help with recruiting and other things too numerous to mention. Contact us for more details.

God Bless and keep in touch,
