The Place of Mystery is My Preparation

My Dear AfriKin Family,

Please accept for apologies for my tardiness in getting our weekly moment of connection to you as scheduled each Tuesday morning. I write to you today with a heart full of reflection and a spirit that has been deeply moved by the journey I’ve been on—a journey not just across lands and mountains but through the very depths of my soul.

There is a place of mystery within each of us, a place where our preparations meet the divine plan. In this sacred space, I have learned to surrender, to trust completely in God’s direction. Too often, we find ourselves grasping for control, unaware of the illusion it truly is. I, too, have walked this path of uncertainty, and it has become a place where I now find comfort. It hasn’t always been easy, and for that, I acknowledge the struggles it has caused in those around me.

In my moments of introspection, I would often say, "We'll see," or simply nod with a thoughtful "hmmm interesting," giving myself the time I needed to confer with God, seeking His guidance before taking my next step. To many, this was frustratingly slow—too slow in a world that races forward at a relentless pace. But I have come to realize that in our rush to move through life, we often miss the beauty that is right in front of us.

I can confess that I was once caught in that same whirlwind of speed. I was moving so fast through life that my mother once feared she might have to bury me. Her words struck me like lightning, forcing me to pause and reflect. That moment, back in 1997, was a turning point—a wake-up call that made me choose a different path. We are, after all, the products of our decisions, and even when those decisions seem unclear or wrong in the moment, they shape who we become.

Patience, discernment, and a deep trust in God’s timing have become the pillars of my life. These virtues have guided me as I’ve navigated the forces and faces that try to pull us away from our true path. I encourage you to honor the commitments you’ve made, to stand firm in your integrity, and to rise above the toxic behaviors that surround us. Respect and integrity—these are the long game. They are the foundation upon which a life of true meaning is built.

My recent travels have taken me on a journey of profound self-growth. From climbing the towering dunes of Namibia to the sacred lands of Thaba Bosiu in Lesotho, I have been blessed with the opportunity to reconnect with my roots of the San people, to learn from the struggles and triumphs of those who came before me, and to push myself beyond the limits I once thought were unbreakable. This journey through Southern Africa has reminded me that we are never truly alone and that sometimes the challenges we face are not aimed at us personally—they are simply the winds of life passing by. If you have not yet been, I highly recommend you take the leap and venture out into this big beautiful world.

As I sit quietly, listening to God’s voice, I am reminded not to let the ghosts of my past dictate my future. The boy I once was does not define the man I have become, and those who cannot see the man I am now are bound by their own choices, not mine. Life is a journey toward becoming the best version of yourself, and that is the path I choose to walk every day.

I live for my offspring, loved ones, and family to understand who they are, to feel the warmth of unconditional love, and to appreciate the simple, profound joys of life. I no longer chase after the fleeting things of this world; instead, I find joy in the vast, beautiful nothingness of simply being—sitting quietly, listening as God reveals His plans for me, feeling the pride He has in the road I have chosen, the road less taken.

In those quiet moments, God and I share stories—we laugh, we cry, we embrace the journey together, always anchored by the love that binds us. I promise you this: if God wills it, it is already yours. There is no need to stress, fret, worry, or fight. What is meant for you will come to you in its own time, in its own way, and it will be yours alone.

We are AfriKin! Our creative expressions are the foundation of our liberation. Free your mind, and the rest will follow.

With love, trust, and unwavering faith,

Alfonso ~ AfriKin

Dear Sponsors and Investors,

We hope this message finds you well and in good spirits.

On behalf of the AfriKin Foundation, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous support and unwavering commitment to our mission. Your contributions have been instrumental in driving our initiatives and enabling us to make a significant impact both locally and globally. It is with profound appreciation that we acknowledge your role in helping us champion the cause of cultural enrichment, artistic expression, and community development.

The work we do at the AfriKin Foundation goes beyond organizing art fairs and cultural events; it is about fostering a sense of unity, preserving cultural heritage, and empowering communities. Your funding has allowed us to support emerging artists, provide educational programs, and create platforms for underrepresented voices. These efforts have not only enriched our local community but have also resonated globally, promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of African art and culture.

As we look ahead, the importance of your continued support cannot be overstated. The funds we receive are the lifeblood of our organization, enabling us to:

  1. Expand Educational Programs: Our workshops, lectures, and mentorship programs are vital in nurturing the next generation of artists and cultural leaders. Your support ensures that these programs remain accessible and impactful.

  2. Support Emerging Artists: By providing resources, exhibition opportunities, and financial assistance, we help artists realize their potential and share their work with a broader audience. This not only benefits the artists but also enriches the cultural fabric of our community.

  3. Promote Cultural Heritage: Through our events and initiatives, we celebrate and preserve the rich cultural traditions of Africa and the diaspora. This is crucial in fostering a sense of identity and pride within our community and beyond.

  4. Advocate for Social Change: Art is a powerful tool for social commentary and change. Your funding allows us to create platforms that address critical issues such as climate change, social justice, and economic empowerment, driving positive change both locally and globally.

We depend on the generosity of sponsors and investors like you to continue this important work. Your contributions are not just financial; they are a testament to your belief in our mission and a commitment to making a difference. As we prepare for the upcoming AfriKin Art Fair and other future initiatives, we invite you to continue this journey with us. Your ongoing support will ensure that we can sustain and expand our efforts, reaching more people and creating a lasting impact.

Thank you once again for your invaluable support. Together, we are building a brighter future, one that honors our heritage, celebrates our present, and inspires our future. We look forward to your continued partnership and to achieving even greater heights together.

With deepest gratitude,
