Self-Colonization and the Journey to Self-Discovery
In our quest for personal growth and fulfillment, we must always go beyond the point of reference they gave, as we often encounter the pervasive challenge of self-colonization that we must conquer. This concept refers to the internalization of limiting beliefs and external expectations that suppress our true potential. To reclaim our autonomy, it is imperative to embark on a journey of self-discovery, finding solace in solitude, and cultivating a space of harmony where we can live in service to humanity and goodness.
Embracing Solitude for Self-Discovery
Solitude is not loneliness; it is a sacred space where we can connect with our inner selves. In this space, we can reflect on our experiences, confront our fears, and nurture our dreams. By withdrawing from external distractions, we allow ourselves to listen to the whispers of our soul, guiding us towards our true purpose.
Creating a harmonious environment is essential in this process. It is a space where we can meditate, journal, and engage in activities that bring us joy and peace. This environment becomes our sanctuary, a place where we can recharge and realign with our core values.
Avoiding the Trap of Guilt and Victim Mentality
As we navigate this journey, it is crucial to avoid the traps of guilt and a manipulative victim mentality. These negative forces can derail our progress and keep us anchored in the shadows of those who do not have our best interests at heart. We must cultivate self-compassion and recognize that our worth is not defined by the expectations of others.
Living right and loving right involves making choices that honor our well-being and the well-being of others. It means setting healthy boundaries and distancing ourselves from toxic influences that seek to control or diminish our light.
Recognizing the Modern Colonizers
Colonizers come in many forms and can be found both close to us and among strangers. They are those who impose their beliefs, fears, and limitations upon us, often under the guise of care or concern. Developing the discernment to recognize these patterns is crucial. We must be vigilant and protect our sovereignty, ensuring that we do not fall prey to manipulation or subjugation.
Observations from Southern Africa
My recent journey to Southern Africa has illuminated the stark contrast between the vibrant, thriving culture of my AfriKin and the lingering shadows of self-colonization. In countries like South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, I have witnessed a duality: on one side, a flourishing community full of life and potential; on the other, an undercurrent of fear, anxiety, and self-imposed limitations.
This dichotomy is troubling yet offers a glimmer of hope. The resilience and vibrancy of the people I have met suggest that the good can and will overcome the evil. I have had the privilege of engaging in deep conversations, visiting studios, tasting exquisite foods and wines, and connecting with my ancestral tribe, the San People of Namibia. Walking the land of my forefathers barefoot was a profoundly moving experience that filled my soul with gratitude.
Moving Forward with Gratitude and Grace
As I reflect on my experiences, I am filled with hope and determination. The journey to self-discovery and liberation from self-colonization is not an easy one, but it is essential. We must continue to work on ourselves, cultivate harmonious spaces, and live in service to humanity and goodness. By doing so, we honor our true selves and contribute to the collective upliftment of our communities.
I am grateful to the Most High Jah for gifting me this opportunity and for the chance to share my journey with you. So if you see me strolling passed signs telling me not to go beyond a particular point, please understand that I have no choice but to keep going as I am being called by something higher asking me to reach higher and to do better. Until my return, I hold on to gratitude and grace in all ways. From this big beautiful nothingness in the Salt Pans in the Makadikadi in Botswana, I will be stretching myself to be a better person.
With love and hope,
