Roaring Into The Night!

The powerful roars of Lomanaa echo through the darkness as he calls out for his son Lewaya. Moments later, Lewaya arrives, answering his father’s call. Watch this touching father-son reunion as the two male lions greet each other and disappear into the African night together.

Camera Updates

Kwa Maritane
Great news - the sound is fixed! Enjoy the magical live bush sounds from this camera once again.

Tembo Plains
This camera is currently down as it’s being moved to a new location. It will be back live in August - stay tuned for fresh views!

Safarihoek & Serengeti Explorer
Both cameras have been experiencing connectivity issues. Our team is working hard to resolve them and keep your wildlife moments streaming smoothly.

Roy’s Dam
Elephants have been having a little too much fun with this camera! It’s being moved to a safer spot at the waterhole and should be back next week.

Olifants River
A fibre break is affecting this stream, but we are working with the ISP to resolve the issue.

Lentorre
We’ve been working on restoring sound at Lentorre this week and hope to have it back up very soon.

Thank you for your patience and for exploring the wild with us every day.

Tiny Antelopes, Big Differences

Ever spotted a small antelope on our live cameras and wondered what it was? Here’s how to tell these petite species apart:

Dik-dik

  • Where? East Africa (Lentorre & Serengeti Explorer)

  • Size: Extremely small (30-40 cm shoulder height)

  • Look for: Long pointed mobile nose, huge dark eyes with white rings, tuft of hair on the forehead, and males have short spiky horns

  • Behaviour: Often in pairs, flicking their little noses - named for their “dik-dik” alarm call

Duiker

  • Where? Across Africa

  • Size: Varies by species, but generally stocky with a hunched back and short legs

  • Look for: Rounded bodies, small heads, slightly backward-curving horns (if male), and a distinctive dark stripe on the face in some species

  • Behaviour: Shy, often seen darting into bushes - “duiker” means “diver” in Afrikaans

Steenbok

  • Where? Southern and Eastern Africa

  • Size: About 45-60 cm at the shoulder - taller and leggier than dik-diks

  • Look for: Slender build, long thin legs, large upright ears with black markings inside, and small straight horns in males

  • Behaviour: Often seen alone in open grasslands, sitting or standing still to blend in
