To date, Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity has served over 325 families with affordable homeownership opportunities and repairs both locally and internationally! Our Rapid City and Spearfish ReStores and community members like you played a major role in that success!

Tithe Partners: Habitat for Humanity Uganda

Tithe:

one-tenth of annual produce or earnings, formerly taken as a tax for the support of the Church and clergy.

Funds raised through the sale of new and used building materials at our ReStores contribute directly to the Habitat mission. ReStore’s efforts have generated $1,287,219 toward affordable housing solutions in the Black Hills Area through the sale of recycled construction materials. Since 2017 ReStore has tithed each quarter to Habitat Uganda, generating $108,150 towards affordable housing solutions.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, ReStore!

In the United States, there are over 2,000 landfills currently open. Roughly 80% of the 139.6 million tons of our waste being buried in landfills annually, could be recycled. Amongst those materials are valuable metals and construction materials that could be used to build affordable homes and make sustainable home repairs.

Reduce, reuse, recycle has been the mantra of ReStore from day one. Since we opened our locations in Rapid City (2007) and Spearfish (2013), we have reduced the environmental impact on our landfills by recycling 7,447,041 lbs. of reusable construction and home use materials.

Did you know?

The average blue whale weighs roughly 200 tons! 7,447,041 lbs. of recycled construction materials is roughly 3723.5205 tons, which is roughly the weight of 18 blue whales!

Volunteer Opportunity:

ReStore data entry specialist!

Are you handy with a computer? Are you interested in helping ReStore improve the quality of its customer service? We are seeking a data entry specialist to help us input donations, send receipts, and thank you letters to the customers who support the Habitat mission. This is a twice-a-week volunteer opportunity. Training and coffee provided!
