ADFF:NY starts today! Several films have already sold out, including the Friday screening of Changing Lanes and the Wednesday screening of The Harvard Five. If you didn't get a ticket but are dying to see a sold-out film, show up to the theater 30 minutes before for rush lines and we'll try to get you in.
This year we're screening 15 excellent design films. Below are a few screenings with Q&As that are not to be missed:
Kensington Market: Heart of the City
2024 / 104 min / Canada
Director: Stuart Clarfield
This film about a Toronto neighborhood has implications far beyond its immediate setting. Kensington Market: Heart of the City will resonate with anyone who has witnessed their community change at a rapid pace.
Join us for the world premiere of a moving film about an architect who inspires us to live with strength and optimism. Full of life even at the end, Constance Adams was a groundbreaking designer whose work at NASA reimagined how humans might live in outer space. In NY, Director Rebecca Carpenter will be in conversation with Architect Deborah Berke, moderated by NY Times Journalist Juile Lasky.
This calm and beautiful film tracks the design/build process behind an artful pavilion. The architect at the center of the project shows us how to blend modern architecture into the natural world.
