Last night we had great turnout for the charming film Identity: A Czech Graphic Design Love Story. After the screening, audiences enjoyed a dynamic conversation with with Debbbie Millman and Nicholas Lowry. Check out opening night photos below.

If you love nordic modern architecture, this is a must see film. Lewerentz is a master, on par with his contemporaries Alvar Aalto and Gunnar Asplund. Don't miss this story about the architect who left behind some of the most profound works of Scandinavian design.

Last year, this was the opening night film at ADFF's Canada festivals. Now, we finally get to show it in ADFF's home city. Erickson is a beloved Canadian Architect. The film captures a true portrait of a life full of great accomplishments and challenges. After the screening, there will be a Q&A with the directors Ryan Mah and Danny Berish and the producer Leah Mallen.

This film explores light, a fundamental ingredient in architecture. How do we perceive light? How does it work? How can we use it? The director is well known for Rivers and Tides, his acclaimed film on the artists Andy Goldsworthy.

Living in a Piece of Furniture – Gerrit Rietveld's Houses (US Premiere)

Design fans probably know Rietveld's chairs, but this film focuses on the houses he designed. Learn about this unique structures, as beautiful as his chairs but on a much larger scale.

Get ready for tomorrow's trivia night, perfect for lovers of design, film, and brutalism!

On Thursday and Friday nights, we have a special trivia night at the theater. Architect and filmmaker Jord den Hollender will take audiences through clips from 25 films, from famous to obscure. After each clip, he'll offer some information on the building or the film, and you'll guess the other. Everyone will have a card to mark their answers, and the winners will be awarded with prizes. Don't miss this first-of-its-kind ADFF event!
