Subject: ADFF NY Films on South Asia

September 14, 2023

This year at ADFF:NY we are thrilled to feature three different films that focus on South Asia. On Thursday (and again on Saturday), join us as we take in the wisdom of legendary Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi, who passed away this year at 95. On Friday, we'll stop by Chandigarh in northern India to discover the accomplishments and shortfalls of Le Corbusier's planned city. On Saturday, we'll travel south to Sri Lanka, where we'll encounter five of Geoffrey Bawa's tropical modernist masterpieces.

Though not exclusively focused on South Asia, we also have a fourth film screening with scenes at one of Louis Khan's masterpieces, the National Assembly Building of Bangladesh. This film, My Architect, also features an interview with Balkrishna Doshi.

We hope you'll join us on this journey through some of South Asia's most transformative architectural stories.
