Subject: ADFF March Screenings

 March 9, 2022

We're happy to start in-person screenings in Washington, DC and New York City. These screenings will complete last season’s extended schedule.

Tickets are now on sale for ADFF:DC.

From March 24-26, we will have in-person screenings at the National Building Museum. Plus, it’ll be the peak of the cherry blossom season on the National Mall — a perfect time to visit DC.

ADFF will screen 12 films; half will include a Q&A afterwards. Here are some of the films we’ll be screening on each of the three dates:

Thursday, March 24

The opening night film will be Mau, and Bruce Mau will be on hand for a Q&A after the screening. Bruce and his partner Bisi William's design philosophy will have you leaving the film optimistic that design just might be able to save the world. After the Q&A will be a party in the Great Hall of the National Building Museum.

Friday, March 25

The inspiring story of the environmental leader and founder of Interface, Ray Anderson, is told in Beyond Zero. This hopeful film leaves you believing that it is possible to solve our environmental problems. After the screening, the film’s director Nathan Havey will be on hand for a Q&A.

Saturday, March 26

Holy Frit follows LA artist Tim Carey and a world-famous Italian glass maestro, Narcissus Quagliata on a wild adventure to create the world's biggest piece of stained glass. The film captures the trials and tribulations of their  creative process. After the screening, the film’s director Justin Monroe will participate in a Q&A.

In the film Mud Frontier: Architecture at the Borderlands, Architect Ronald Rael's quest to use 3D printing technology leads him to explore his ancestral land in southern Colorado. While investigating a modern interpretation of adobe construction, he reconnects with his past where Indigenous and Hispanic communities have lived in both harmony and conflict since the late 16th century. After the film, Ronald Rael and the film’s director Chris Gauthier will be on hand for a Q&A.

Another Kind of Knowledge - A Portrait of Dorte Mandrup is a deep dive into the exceptional work of one of Denmark's best-known architects. After the film, Architect Dorte Mandrup and the film's director Marc-Christoph Wagner will participate in a Q&A.
