Subject: ACMS is Thankful for YOU!

November 27, 2025

ACMS wishes you and your loved ones a safe and happy Thanksgiving. As I reflect on what I'm thankful for this year, I keep coming back to one thing: You. The students, scholars, researchers, teachers, librarians, professionals, and lifelong learners from around the world who make this community and the field of Mongolian Studies so special.

This year has been both one of the most exciting in recent ACMS history, with numerous summer programs, in-person and online events, and even a conference in Denver earlier this month. I'm only a year and a half into my own tenure with ACMS and have been absolutely blown away by your engagement and enthusiasm.

The future of Mongolian Studies is looking bright as we continue to engage more scholars, students, researchers, and enthusiasts than ever before, and it seems like every day more young people are contacting us expressing interest in our work. We already have a number of exciting programs lined up for 2026, and more opportunities are arising each day.

However, we can't do this without your support. As you may know, ACMS lost a significant portion of our federal funding late this past summer. While that has admittedly been difficult, I have been completely humbled by how many of you have stepped up to contribute and show your support.

Now as 2025 draws to a close, I am asking you to pay it forward to the next generation. By contributing to our Giving Tuesday campaign this year, you're supporting the future of Mongolian Studies.

The future of research fellowships. The future of conservation projects. The future of experiential learning and K-12 teaching. The future of Mongolian language training. The future of library sciences and cultural heritage preservation. The future of ACMS.

So mark your calendars for Tuesday, December 2. Or give early to help us reach our goal of $2,000!

I know I speak for our entire team here at ACMS when I say we are so thankful for everything we've been able to do for you over the years. And now, we are thankful for your support.

Sincerely,

Maggie Lindrooth
