Subject: Being Followed On & Off the Train

Waiting for the train after work and being followed

It was a bright sunny day in the late 1970’s on my way home from
work in Manhattan heading to the subway station. I waited for
the # 2 train at the Fulton Street Station.

I noticed a guy staring at me…looking very strange, now there is
nothing wrong with another guy staring at you, because that’s
something I couldn’t avoid. But this particular guy had a
certain look about him that made me very uncomfortable.

I decided to wear my sunglasses to avoid his stare and not to
look nervous. The train finally came.

I was anxious to get on the train, hoping that the guy wouldn’t
enter the train. I kept praying. “God please let me get to my
destination safe. I really don’t like the way this guy is
staring at me.” He was acting very strange. There was about
10-12 passengers waiting for the train that evening.

As I entered the train sat at the corner where two people can
sit, the guy stood at the door staring, even though I had my
sunglasses on trying to avoid him, knowing that he looked like a
loony, I decided to read my new testament book, hoping for this
guy to get off the train.

The train stopped so I decided to get off the train to enter
three cars away from the car I was in. Don’t know what
happened. The train stopped at another station for
about 10 minutes before it moved. As I looked up the guy entered
the same car I was in again, sat opposite me staring.

OK! Now my heart was beating so FAST! Scared as hell!

That’s when I convinced myself that he was really following me. I
didn’t know what to do. I kept wondering if I should get off the
train, but my instincts told me to stay on the train because it
would be worse if I get off.

Now! Here comes my stop to Franklyn Avenue in Brooklyn. I got
off the train walked so fast to get away from the guy I tried
not to look back so he wouldn’t think I was scared. So I
entered a store where I usually purchase from and told the owner
I was being followed. Described the clothing the guy had on,
the owner of the store went out to look for the guy, but he
didn’t see the guy. I tried calling my husband to meet me, but
no one answered the phone.

I felt a little better, so I left the store to head for my home.
I didn’t see the guy anymore, felt a sense of relief.

As I arrived in front of my home I was astonished, he entered the
same building coming towards the elevator. Now I know this guy
didn't live in the building. Everyone knew each other in this
building. I tried to play brave but I was scared as hell! I told
him what the F! Are you following me for? With God on my side
my husband got off the elevator. He had a small broken porcelain
lamp in his hand to dump. I was so happy to see my husband.
I told him the guy followed me from work. My husband
approached the guy cursing with the broken porcelain lamp in his
hand. Well you know what went down! The guy got scared and said
he wasn’t following me and ran. Which was a big lie, he was too
OBVIOUS!

The next day I was a nervous wreck, couldn’t go to work, hoping
that the guy didn’t show up again to bother me, so I called in
sick, I became a nervous wreck from that experience. It took me
a while to get over the incident. My husband started to meet me
after work until I got over the fear.

I’m telling you this story and I’m getting flash backs from the
incident. I still remember the guy face.

After that experience I took Karate classes to learn to protect
myself.

The lesson I learned from this incident is to be on your guard
wherever you go, to be aware of your surroundings and people on
the street, trains and bus. There are too many crazy people on
the trains and bus. You have to be able to identify the
difference of when someone is looking at you because they admire
with innocent thoughts or evil thoughts in their mind. I have to
say God was there for me and he sent my husband just on time to
protect me. Always have faith in the LORD!

End of Story…Stay tuned for more.
