Latest from our world

We took the pups and headed for quieter surroundings for our nation's Independence Day last month. Our visit to Watkins Woolen Mill & State Park near Excelsior Springs, Missouri, was a great opportunity to explore the surrounding area, which includes the historic Elms Hotel, the James Farm, where Jesse became an outlaw, and a lot of other great Show Me State History.

Nestled in the rolling hills of Northwest Missouri, near Lawson and Excelsior Springs, is the only 19th-century textile mill in the United States with its original machinery.

In the meantime, Kathy and I dedicated most of our spare time this month to decorating Fort Alexander, our home on the Lake of the Ozarks.

It's the best way to balance work and play when we aren't traveling. Not sure how I feel about the Pegasus in front of our garage though.

Kathy saved her money for a year to buy this from an antique shop in Tightwad, Missouri. That's because I told her unless she could whip out the cash from her purse, there was no way we could afford it. Boy, was I surprised a year later when she produced a wad of bills and said, "Let's Go Shopping!"

She assures me there is nothing else to bolt into the driveway. She's onto other projects, including a Totem Pole. Thankfully, I will only have to mess with that in October, as we are heading out again this weekend for another journey through northern Kansas, parts of Colorado, and our annual stay in Eagle Nest, New Mexico. I'll catch you up on our travel from somewhere on the road next month.

Do your brain a favor—turn off the news, appreciate the beauty around you, and find your peace, whether at home or on a great adventure.

Enjoy this month's Newsletter!
