Subject: Do not underestimate her ...

During Women's History month, we've been highlighting the impact of some rarely discussed Bible women.

Volume 6 No. 2  | March/April 2026

Long, long ago, back in the Bible days, a queen traveled in disguise ...

Sounds like the beginning of a fairy tale right? Except, there is such a story in the Bible. Never heard of it? Many haven't or don't remember it.

And that is the basis for a new series: She Was There! I wanted to highlight the contributions of lesser known women during Women's History Month. It's available on:

This queen was sent on a secret mission, carrying questions about her sick son and the future of her house. She went quietly, under orders, hoping the prophet would not recognize her. But the disguise did not change the truth. What she heard that day was heavier than the clothing she wore and far more lasting than the errand that sent her there. You can find her story in I Kings 14.

There are women in the Bible whose names we know by heart. Their stories are told often, and rightly so. But Scripture is also filled with women who stepped into critical moments, whose very existence changed history, who made powerful contributions, and then quietly faded into the background of the larger story.

I hope you glean some valuable lessons from their stories and share them with friends. I've enjoyed sharing the stories so much this may become a regular series.

When legal battles involve faith, community concerns, and claims of fairness, the first question is not always, “Who is right?”

Sometimes the first question is: What are the facts?

In this episode of Faith and Politics, I bring that perspective front and center, using my experience as a former judge. As the panel discusses the Justice Department’s investigation into an Alabama city that denied a faith-based addiction recovery ministry, I ask:

  • What was the property used for before?

  • What really changed?

  • And are people objecting on legal grounds—or simply saying, “Not in my neighborhood”?

On Faith & Politics, I share my take as a former judge on the hidden agendas and the bigger implications for people of faith. Drawing from my years on the bench and deep grounding in Scripture, I connect today’s policy battles to timeless biblical principles of discernment, courage, and truth.

Faith & Politics is a show dedicated to discussing issues surrounding the intersection of Church, State and politics. It examines whether you are allowing your faith to shape your politics or if your politics are starting to shape your faith. What do you do when God and government come face-to-face? It is sponsored by the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists.
