Subject: The Lakeview Insider: ___% of campers said they grew in their faith at camp

See if you can guess! God is good!

“In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

-John 14:2-3

CAMPFIRE THOUGHTS:
"A Place To Call Home"

Out here in this world, there aren’t too many places left for us to truly call home. In this broken world, it can feel like one terrible thing after another. Just turn on the news and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

For me, and likely many of you who have ever been to camp, camp is the one place that feels the most like home. Camp is not only a place that’s disconnected and set apart from the rest of the world, but more importantly, a place where we’re surrounded by the love of Christ 24/7 and where we get the real opportunity to share His love with everyone else around us. Summers here are such a blessing that I’ll genuinely catch myself saying “I wish I could just live here forever and never have to leave.”

Although camp can often be an incredible blessing and a place where we can feel at home, John 14:2-3 reminds us of our eternal heavenly home that we are always still pushing onwards to. Although camp may fill us with the love of Jesus and be a ton of fun overall, it’s not where our journey ends. We have a true home to look forward to beyond every blessing and every trial we will ever experience in this life; Jesus has promised us a heavenly home to look forward to that He Himself is preparing for us.

Furthermore, Colossians 3:2 reminds us to set our minds "on things above, not on things on the earth.” We may find those blessed places where we feel at home here in this world, but even they are imperfect; even camp is imperfect, thus we are reminded to always keep our sights on our final heavenly home. Things will always still go wrong on this side of the resurrection, and when they do, we can remember that the heavenly home we are promised will be truly perfect, and “things going wrong” will be a thing of the past.

So even when you are in a place that is a huge blessing and feels like home, remember to thank God for His abundant blessings, but also remember that it’s only a step along the way to our true heavenly home which will be magnitudes better than even the best place ever.

Thanks be to God for the heavenly home Christ has promised us, and for every blessing He gives!

LAKEVIEW LOWDOWN

Summer 2025 Wrap-Up

Our final group of summer campers will head home on Friday. It's been a great summer. The numbers above help to tell part of the story of this summer, and the many lives that have encountered the love of Jesus and the hope of the Gospel at camp. But no number could ever capture the life-changing power of God that has worked in countless lives this summer.

More than 95% of our campers say they made a new friend while at camp. And 99% of our campers say they grew in their faith while at camp. Each week, we have witnessed campers growing to be more complete people of God, sharing in vulnerability and honesty about the hard things in life, worshipping with abandon under the stars and around the campfire, and learning what it looks like to serve and love the people around them. As we look at the seeds that have been planted this summer at camp, we can only imagine what God will grow in the lives of the campers, staff, and volunteers for years to come.

To God be the glory! May the seeds planted this summer in the lives of campers, staff, and volunteers be for His glory and to grow the Kingdom!

MEET SMOKEY & TIKI

(our 2025-26 Program Assistants)

Each year, two college-age young adults serve as our Program Assistants during the school year, bringing energy, joy, and a deep love for Jesus to everything they do at camp. This year, Becca "Smokey" Loman and Connor "Tiki" McLaughlin will be serving in these positions. Watch the video above to hear the heart behind their service—why they chose to invest a year of their lives into this life-changing ministry and the passion that drives them to make a difference in the lives of campers every day.

INSIDER ACTION:
Help us raise $10,000 for Camperships!

Over the last few years at camp, we've seen an increased need for camp scholarships with more people requesting help than ever before. We never want money to stand in the way of a child attending camp and hearing the Gospel. And that's where the Lakeview Labor Day 5K comes in.

Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 for camperships. Here's 3 ways you can join the party and get involved to help provide #camp4kids:

  • Participate:  Sign up and join us on Labor Day! About half of your registration fee helps cover race expenses, with the other half helping support camp scholarships.

  • Collect Donations: In addition to running the race, you can create your own fundraising page and invite people to support you as you walk/run a 5K. If you can't attend the race in person, you can also do this virtually! If you get just 10 friends to donate $10 each, that's $100 in support of camp scholarships!

  • Sponsor the Race: If you are part of an organization, consider donating to become a sponsor in support of the race. Your organization will receive some awesome shout outs in all of our race promotion and on race day.

If you believe that EVERY kid deserves a camp experience, then you should 100% join us in our efforts for the Labor Day 5K. God can use you to make a difference!

We love to talk! Reply to this email and share your thoughts.

You are loved in Christ.
