Subject: The Lakeview Insider - Alpine Village is LIVE

Back in winter, a gentleman picked up the phone and called camp. His question was simple:

“Praise the LORD from the earth, all sea monsters and ocean depths, lightning and hail, snow and cloud, stormy wind that executes his command, mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, creatures that crawl and flying birds, kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all judges of the earth, young men as well as young women, old and young together. Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted. His majesty covers heaven and earth.”

-Psalm 148:7-13

CAMPFIRE THOUGHTS:
"Creature Praise"

Camp is in full swing! And that means the sounds of summer camp have also arrived. Kids splashing at the lake, the rustling of feet running up a path, a call from the zipline tower for the next two waiting campers. And it’s not just the sounds that have arrived, with them return nightly campfires with crackling flames, clotheslines filled with towels and swimsuits, and warm days at the lake. Camp is alive in the best way!

The energy from the sights and sounds of camp can be a natural boost to the soul, knowing that God is working through all of the activities. Nature has a way of displaying God’s glory through its beauty and the life it provides. Even after a storm, God’s power and love is present in the green glow from plants and beautiful rainbows.

God is present in the chaos and hectic schedule during camp, but He is also present in the calm. I got to enjoy a weekend morning on the screened-in porch at the Dining Hall the other day, and nature filled the air with birds chirping, trees swaying, and horse tails swishing. In the peace.

Nature continues to praise God through its songs.

Creation cries out to its Maker.

In the Psalms it says “everything that has breath praise the LORD”. We can all take a note from nature to praise God more. Often, the daily grind causes us to lose focus. We become grumpy about our tasks; unwilling to meet the needs of others around us. Without our minds focused on giving all glory to God, we lose sight on leading our lives with the joy of the gospel.

Regardless of our perspective on life, Jesus never changes his perspective. He was able to praise God throughout his lifetime; performing servant-minded miracles; living life for God in everything he did. Because of the sacrifices Christ made for us, we are able to live our lives more intentionally, knowing that he was able to accomplish what we are not able to. That sure sounds like something to praise God about!

Spend some time in nature today praising God for all that he is!

LAKEVIEW LOWDOWN:
Capital Campaign Update

This Memorial Day weekend marked a historic occasion as we officially launched the public phase of our “For Generations to Come” Campaign during our annual Open House. That means we're inviting EVERYONE to join in and partner with us.

With a goal of $7 million, we are committed to ensuring that this sacred space continues to serve campers and families for decades ahead. Thanks to the generosity of early supporters, we’ve already raised $2.8 million—an awesome start, but we still have a ways to go!

Over the past 60 years, countless people have joined together in building this camp into the life-changing place it is today. Now, we invite you to be part of the next chapter. Together, we can continue the Lakeview legacy that will bless future generations of kids and families as God continues to use this place to change lives.

Join us. Dream with us. Build with us—for generations to come.

Staff Spotlight:

Why do these college kids serve at camp?

Summer is here—and so is the incredible team of staff who are pouring their hearts into the kids this summer at camp. From leading cabin devotions to having deep late-night conversations, these young men and women are showing up big for your campers—especially when it comes to growing their faith. Want to see what's motivating them to be at camp this summer serving? Check out the video above!

INSIDER ACTION:

Unlikely Source Makes a Big Impact!

Back in the chill of late winter, an older gentleman picked up the phone and called Lakeview Ministries. His question was simple: “Do you have anything you need donated?”

Our team pointed him toward the Amazon Wish List, thinking he might select an item or two. A few weeks later, he called back—not just with a donation update, but with his story.

Every few years, he explained, he searches for a ministry to support. He lives alone, as his wife passed away several years ago, and he enjoys the compassion and connection that comes from giving. He had stumbled across Lakeview Ministries online, felt drawn to the mission, and decided this was the year he’d get involved.

Since that first call, this older gentleman has gone to our Wish List several more times—donating several thousand dollars worth of supplies! His gifts range from fun (pudgie pie irons and tetherballs) to functional (binders, a mic stand, and a string of lights)—each one meeting a real need and bringing a little extra joy and care to camp.

This gentleman may not live nearby or have any past connection to Lakeview, but his generosity reminds us that God moves in surprising ways—and that sometimes, the most unexpected gifts are the ones that bless us most.

SESSION SPOTLIGHT: Alpine Village in Action!

One of the projects in our "For Generations to Come" campaign is building our 6th (and final) Village Cluster at Lakeview Villages, fulfilling the long-term master site plan. While construction is not quite finished, during our third week of camp the very first set of campers spent their week at Alpine Village!  This nearly-finished addition marks a major milestone in Lakeview Ministries’ ongoing story of growth and faith.

It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come since construction began for the Lakeview Villages site way back in 2008. Constructing Lakeview Villages was possible due to the generosity of the "Let the Children Come" campaign, raising 2.5 million to build an entirely new side of camp. That year, a 30-foot dam created beautiful Lake Wehmeier and the first cabins, bathhouses, and roads took shape.

During the first summer with campers at the Villages, in 2011, the Village Lodge wasn't completed and as a result the canteen, Shirt Shack, and staff offices were all housed in one of the four village clusters that existed for that summer. The remaining 3 villages held campers, which meant a "full" week of camp was 60 kids.

The addition of Alpine Village doubles that original capacity, with the Villages being able to have 120 campers each week of camp! We're so grateful for this next chapter in camp’s history, expanding our capacity to offer new adventures, friendships, and faith experiences for teens.

We're still working on finishing construction of the bathhouse at Alpine Village (campers are sharing the bathhouse of another village) and completing an upstairs living quarters for our seasonal program interns. If you're interested in helping us finish this project, let us know at office@lakeview.camp. We'll be continuing construction through August of this year.

Praise God for his continued faithfulness to all generations at Lakeview Villages!
