Author Event: Mark Granato on Saturday, November 14th @ 1 pm
The library will host Pulitzer Prize-nominated local author F. Mark Granato for a presentation on his historical-fiction novel, Out of Reach: The Day Hartford Hospital BurnedThe story is based on the actual 1961 flash fire at Hartford Hospital that took 16 lives. Books are currently for sale at the library and will also be available for purchase and signing after the author’s presentation. Refreshments provided by The Friends of the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library. Contact the library to reserve a spot for this special program.

Chapter Chat Book Club: Thursday, November 12 @ 6:30 pm 
A new book club for elementary school readers. You read the book at home and then join us for a lively discussion and craft based on the book. There are no wrong answers in Chapter Chat, just fun! November's title is Critter Club: Amy and the Missing Puppy. Copies are available at the Children’s Reference desk. Registration Required.
Bibliobop: Thursday, November 19 @ 10:30 am
Are you ready to shake your sillies out? Join us for a story followed by some energetic dancing, singing and playing! For all ages (geared to toddlers and preschoolers). 
Lego Zone (gr K+) Saturday, November 21 @ 1 pm
What will you build? Bricks provided. For children in grades K and up; younger children permitted with adult supervision.

Zen and the Art of Coloring (Adult Coloring). Now offering day and evening sessions: Wednesday, November 4 @ 1:30 pm and Monday, November 9 @ 6:30 pm  
Coloring is a relaxing activity, even for adults.  We'll supply the intricate coloring pages and colored pencils.  Refreshments provided. Registration.
Sit & Knit: Thursdays, November 5, 19 @ 6 PM & November 12 @ 1 pm
Join local knitters for a relaxing time filled with knitting and good company.
Writing Group: Saturday, November 7@ 1 pm
Do you like to write? Are you interested in getting together with fellow writers to get feedback? Come to the first meeting of the Berlin-Peck Writers' Group. This will be an informal session to discuss how the group will work and plan future meetings. Registration.

Senior Center Book Club: Wednesday, November 18 @ 1:30 pm
Join us at the Berlin Senior Center for a discussion of Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks. Registration.
Easy Holiday Decorating: Monday, November 30 @ 6:30 pm
The Kensington Garden Club will demonstrate how to create beautiful holiday decorative arrangements such as wreaths, centerpieces and kissing balls.  Refreshments provided by the Friends of the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library.  Registration.

Coming in December
Mark your calendars: Our annual gingerbread contest will begin on December 11th!  The contest will conclude with a performance by the Berlin High School Madrigals on December 16th. 

Seed Library

We have begun taking seed donations for our Seed Library beginning in January. Seeds can be dropped off any time the library is open. We are excited to offer this new service to the community. More details to come in the next month.
Friends of the Library
This newsletter and many of our library programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library.  Please consider supporting our library by joining our Friends group today.  Click here for more information.  The ongoing library book sale, run by our Friends of the Library group, is located in the Berlin Community Center.

The library will be open on Veteran's Day.
Thanksgiving weekend hours: Closing @ 5 on Wednesday, November 25, closed Thursday and Friday, November 26-27.  Open Saturday, November 28 from 10-4.
