Subject: The Great American Eclipse ✹ Weekly Forecast & More

Dear Stargazers,

In response to your emails about the upcoming solar eclipse, I decided to include:

(a) an expanded analysis of its potential influence based upon which house is receiving it in the horoscope; and
(b) insight into its possible influence based on aspects to planets in the chart for those of you who are more advanced.

As you read the descriptions, keep in mind that this information is intended to be of a general nature and is by no means all-inclusive.

Also, I want to clarify that the annual forecast reading is remaining and and will continue to be available to you. The reading currently scheduled to disappear from the menu (I say "scheduled" because Mercury IS retrograde) is the 90-Minute In-Depth Natal Chart & 12 Month Forecast for New Clients. I could change my mind, but as of now the plan is to replace it with a choice of two readings, each of which includes a natal chart interpretation & 12-month forecast, based upon how deeply one wants (or needs) to delve into his/her horoscope.

Now that I've cleared that up, it's time to talk about the upcoming solar eclipse.

BEST AVOIDED

The energies on these days aren't favorable for new ventures or any activity where you want or need a definite result. If you must schedule something, you may have to think on your feet, or there may be a need for patience or flexibility.

SOLAR ECLIPSE
at 28°53' LEO
August 21, 2017 | 2:30 PM EDT
Washington, DC

Like all new moons, a solar eclipse speaks to initiation. However, since it's an eclipse, it may come about in an unexpected or surprising way. Also, if there are circumstances that need to be eliminated in order for this new beginning to take root, you can count on the solar eclipse to clear them away. That's why it's not uncommon for an ending to occur near a solar eclipse.

The upcoming Leo solar eclipse is part of the Metonic cycle of eclipses, which is a series of eclipses that repeat approximately every 19 years. As it happens, this eclipse is occurring on the same day (August 21), in the same sign (Leo) and at virtually the same degree) as it did in 1998 but with one notable difference: This time, its path is cutting directly across the USA, which certainly seems fitting considering the nation stands divided in so many ways.

As cycles repeat, so do themes

Back in 1998, then-President Bill Clinton was in the midst of a scandal that would ultimately lead to two articles of impeachment; one for allegedly lying under oath to a grand jury and the other for alleged obstruction of justice). Clinton was also at risk for further charges in relation to allegations that campaign contributions from China to the Democratic party had influenced his foreign policy. (See The New York Times) .

Fast forward to the present time and there are (almost daily) reports about a possible, probable or inevitable (depending on the news source) impeachment proceeding against President Trump for alleged collusion with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 election and for alleged obstruction of justice in connection with an investigation connected to Michael Flynn, his former National Security Advisor.

Sounds familiar, right?

Meanwhile, this eclipse will activate Bill Clinton's chart just as it did back in 1998. Although Clinton isn't in the hot seat, his secret meeting on the tarmac with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch just days before she announced that no charges would be filed against Hilary Clinton has landed Lynch there as she's currently the subject of an investigation by the Senate Judiciary Committee for alleged interference (i.e., obstruction of justice) in Hillary Clinton's private email investigation. (See Time.com)  Although there's no birth time for Lynch, we do know that her Sun is at 29° Taurus which means this solar eclipse will be squaring (challenging) her Sun. Will this eclipse again raise questions of collusion and/or obstruction of justice that will cast a shadow over the former President? Only time will tell.

Of course, the real eclipse story is about President Trump. This eclipse lands on his Ascendant and conjuncts his 12th house Mars at 26° Leo (Mars represents war and rules his 9th house of foreign relations). How will it influence him? Will he be impeached or be forced to resign or be assassinated or die of a cerebral hemorrhage or come to some other sort of violent end as has been predicted by many, many astrologers.

Again, time will tell, but frankly, I don't see it. I may be as wrong as I was when I predicted President Obama would be a one-term President, or as right as I was when I predicted that Hillary Clinton wouldn't be President, but either way you know I'll own it.

That said, I do believe this eclipse could very well be connected to the death or fall of a world leader, and since this one cuts across the USA, it may indeed strike one of our own.

Although all eyes are focused on Trump, there are several others (past and present) whose charts are being impacted by this eclipse. For example, President H.W. Bush (ASC at 26° Leo; Mercury at 29° Taurus, North Node at 26° Leo);  President Carter (Mars at 26° Aquarius); President Clinton (Sun at 26 Leo) and President Obama (North Node at 27° Leo conjunct Uranus at 25° Leo).

In addition, this eclipse is also impacting the charts of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu (Mars at 26° Leo) and British Prime Minister Theresa May (Pluto at 29° Leo).
Predicting with Eclipses

As forecasting tools, eclipses can be tricky because they have an unpredictable energy about them that can easily result in a blindside. Personally, I find one of the most reliable ways to predict with eclipses is to examine themes that emerged during prior eclipses that activated the same house or planet.

When predicting with eclipses, you need to consider:
  • Natal Promise. The eclipses can only activate what is “promised” in the chart. In other words, if you have a natal aspect that indicates great wealth, an eclipse that activates the aspect by transiting one of the planets could bring you a windfall. However, if you don’t have such an aspect in your chart, the eclipse might bring you money, but it won’t be so substantial as to be considered a life-changing” amount.
  • Mercury RetrogradeIf Mercury is retrograde at the time of an eclipse, related events are usually delayed until after Mercury goes direct.
  • Trigger Dates.  A hard aspect (a conjunction, square or to a lesser degree, an opposition) from a transiting planet to the eclipse point (*28° Leo) will trigger the energy. From September 1 - 3, transiting Mars will do just that as it conjuncts the eclipse point. Then, on September 5, the eclipse point will be triggered again when transiting Mercury stations direct at 28° Leo.
Since Mercury is retrograde during this eclipse, it's very likely that eclipse-related events (mundane and personal) will be delayed until the eclipse point is triggered.
Getting Personal

Although everyone is influenced in some way by the eclipse, those born under the following signs are being impacted the most:

Aquarius  (especially those born February 11 – 21)
Leo (especially those born August 17 – 27)
Taurus (especially those born May 14 – 23)
Scorpio (especially those born November 16 – 25)

So which life areas are being eclipsed in your life? Where can you expect a new beginning (and perhaps an ending to clear a path for it)?  They're revealed by the house in your chart that's receiving it. Also, if the eclipse falls directly on a house cusp, it will activate that house and its life areas very strongly. If the eclipse falls towards the end of a house and is within five degrees of the next house’s cusp, then it is considered to be applying its energy to it, and you should consider its effects on that house as well.

If you don't know which house holds 28°53' Leo in your horoscope, you can refer to the list below to find out where the solar eclipse falls in your solar (sun-sign based) chart.

If your Sun sign is:

Aries, it falls in your 5th house.

The emphasis is on children, romance, creativity and recreational pursuits. Children, your own or someone else’s, may become more important in your life, and there is also likely to be an increased chance for pregnancy. Opportunities for romance may arise, and if you’re already involved, the relationship will receive more of your attention. You could become active in sports, start a new hobby, or try your hand at the creative or dramatic arts.

Taurus, it falls in your 4th house.
The emphasis is on home and family, and since this is an “angular” house, the events that manifest will be of more public nature. Your parents or other family members could require your attention. You could move (local or long distance), redecorate or landscape your home. You might decide to purchase new flooring or furniture, remodel the basement or renovate your home in some way. Buying or selling real estate is also a possibility.

Gemini, it falls in your solar 3rd house. The emphasis will be on your intellect, local community, short trips, siblings and transportation. Depending upon other factors in your chart, you could buy a new car (or need to repair your current one). You might have the opportunity to take some short trips or become more involved in your community. You could also be more involved with your siblings. Another possibility is embarking upon a course of study, and if applicable to your field, you may encounter opportunities to lecture or promote yourself.

Cancer, it falls in your solar 2nd house.
The emphasis will be on your finances, income, assets and personal values. It is possible that your finances or spending habits will change. You might take an action that will alter your income or you might make a major purchase. Your priorities could also change because you experience a change of heart regarding what you think is important. Depending upon the rest of your chart, this eclipse could make you feel more (or less) secure.

Leo, it falls in your solar 1st house. The emphasis is literally on you.
This is also an “angular” house, which means it will manifest in a way that will be visible to others. You may decide to change your personal appearance in some way. This could be as simple as starting a diet, beginning an exercise program, or trying a new hair style. However, because of the power of this eclipse, it could also be as extreme as cosmetic surgery, though there would also need to be supporting transits and/or progressions. If it falls directly on your Ascendant, the influence is even stronger.

Virgo, it falls in your 12th house. The emphasis is on things that are hidden, which means that depending upon other factors in the charts, secrets could be revealed to you or your own secrets could be exposed. There could be a secret love affair, a greater need for privacy, and a desire for seclusion. Other possibilities include volunteering at a hospital or learning to meditate. Your intuition might be stronger. You could embark upon a path of self-help or seek counseling for addictions and a psychological breakthrough is a possibility.

Libra, it falls in your 11th house. The emphasis is on your goals, friends, peers and large organizations. You could achieve your goals, set new goals or revise existing ones. You might join a country club, a humanitarian organization, a political party, or some other group that works towards social reform. You might also become active in networking events. Your social life might become very lively, and you may make new friends.

Scorpio, it falls in your 10th house.
The emphasis is on your career, your boss, and your reputation, and since this is also an “angular” house, the events that manifest will be visible to others. You could experience changes in your career, such as a promotion or new boss, or you could decide to change your profession or start your own business. Another possibility is working more closely with the public or becoming involved in politics. You might take on a more visible role at work, accept a position of authority in your community, or perhaps even become a public figure.

Sagittarius, it falls in your 9th house. The emphasis is on long distance travel, spirituality, foreign affairs, legal matters and education. You could embark upon a spiritual quest, a course of study (academic or religious) or a long distance trip. You might decide to study a foreign language or publish a book. Legal matters could demand your attention or you could decide to become involved in a social cause.

Capricorn, it falls in your 8th house.
The emphasis is on shared assets, investments, unearned benefits and intimacy. There could be a change in your partner’s income or assets, or you might experience a change regarding your investments, pensions or other unearned benefits. You might begin a sexual relationship, or you could decide to start seeing a therapist. Other possibilities include studying the “mysteries of life, ”receiving a financial gift or windfall, or being notified that you’re the subject of a tax audit.

Aquarius, it falls in your 7th house.
The emphasis is on your marriage and close one-on-one relationships. Since this is also an “angular” house, the events that manifest will be
of more public nature. Relationships will be a major focus for you, and depending upon your chart, it could signify harmony or it could indicate working through problems. If you are in a client-driven business, especially one that involves some type of counseling, it is possible that your clientele will increase.

Pisces, it falls in your 6th house
The emphasis is on your health, pets, job, and work environment, including co-workers or people that you employ. Your health could require more of your attention, and you might begin a new diet, quit smoking or undertake a new exercise program. Your employment could change, or if you’re the boss, you could hire new employees. Another possibility is that you will get a new pet or existing ones could demand more of your attention.
Planets

For those of you who are familiar with the planets in your chart, below is a brief description of the  if the solar eclipse aspects your natal:

Sun

The Sun represents the life force, as well as romance, children, ego, self-expression and men in general. If it is a conjunction, we will feel energized and enthusiastic, and a new beginning or opportunity is likely to be coming our way. If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), growth is indicated. Self-esteem may increase, creative talents may expand, a new relationship may blossom, and men may benefit us in some way. If it's a square or an oppostion
, we may encounter difficulty with men or authority figures. Our creative talents may stall, our ego as well as our physical body may feel drained, or we may feel restricted in some way.

Moon

The Moon represents our family, mother, real estate, intuition, and women in general. If it is a conjunction, we might redecorate our home, consider moving, or in some way experience an addition to our family. If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), our intuition may increase, new women may enter our lives, and our family life is content. If it's a square or opposition, we may encounter difficulties in our domestic life, experience digestive issues, or find ourselves at odds with women.

Mercury

Mercury represents our intellect, siblings, transportation, local community, and the way in which we think and communicate. If it is a conjunction, we could begin a course of study or take a short trip. If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), we may finally sit down and write that book. We could become closer to our siblings or more involved in our local community. If it's a square or opposition, we may experience conflicts with our siblings or neighbors or our car may need repairs.

Venus

Venus represents love, money, beauty and the arts. If the aspect is a conjunction, an artistic talent could blossom, or it could indicate that a new love or new money is coming our way. If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), we may embark upon a makeover, discover a creative interest or simply have more opportunities to indulge ourselves in whatever we find pleasurable. If it's a square or opposition, relationships could be rocky. We might need to establish a tight budget, become narcissistic, or suffer the consequences from overindulging our appetites.

Mars

Mars represents our drive, our vitality and our sexual energy. If it is a conjunction, we feel invigorated. Our energy receives a boost, and if we’ve been ill, this is an excellent aspect for a quick recovery. We also find ourselves engaged in many activities, and whether it’s business or pleasure, we are very productive and are able to further our own interests.  If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), a physical relationship could begin at this time.  If it's a square or opposition, we could become engaged in conflicts because we come on too strong. We can also be accident-prone because we’re too impatient or impulsive.

Jupiter

Jupiter represents expansion, abundance, excess, travel, spirituality and education. If it is a conjunction, we may actually get whatever it is we are hoping to receive. If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), an opportunity to travel or continue our education may be on the horizon, or we could become interested in a new spiritual belief. If it's a square or opposition, we may overspend, overeat, or overplay our hand. Our expectations about something may be disappointed, or we may find that people we relied on let us down.

Saturn

Saturn represents career, business, status ambition, and limitations. If it is a conjunction, we may begin a new career or have the opportunity to advance in our current one. If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), we may receive recognition for an accomplishment, or if we have experienced uncertainty in some area, this aspect may bring s the stability we need. If it's a square or opposition, we are likely to feel burdened in some way. We may also encounter difficulties with authority figures.

Uranus

Uranus represents “the unexpected,” which makes it very difficult when doing predictive work. However, it is also the planet of freedom, brilliance and group relationships. If it is a conjunction, we are likely to be liberated from limiting circumstances, join a team or become involved in some kind of cause. If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), we are able to make creative changes in our life, and we aren’t held back by what other people might think about our actions. If it's a square or an opposition, we could be impatient, rebellious or make decisions that we later regret.

Neptune

Neptune represents vision as well as confusion. If it's a conjunction, we may we may see everything clearly or be overwhelmed by confusion. We could also be inspired creatively or become more in tune with our spirituality or psychic abilities. If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), we may discover a talent for painting, writing poetry or music. If it's a square or opposition, we could experience depression or encounter some form of deception.

Pluto

Pluto represents power, control issues and transformation. If it is a conjunction, we are likely to experience a major change in our life, or we could reinvent ourselves on some level. If it is an easy aspect (trine, sextile), we are able to make tremendous progress regarding our goals. It is also much easier for us to heal ourselves on both the physical and psychological levels. If it's a square or opposition, we are likely to experience power struggles with others, and in extreme cases, we may experience a crisis.

Manifesting with the Leo Solar Eclipse

You can set any intention under any new moon, but when it's charged with eclipse energy, it's especially powerful. Since this eclipse is in Leo, it especially favors:

Actions t
o promote personal interests and ambitions, increase physical energy, strengthen your body and enhance your physical appearance.

Affirmations to increase confidence, courage, leadership and self-motivation.

Just remember that since Mercury is retrograde, your intentions may take longer to germinate.
One more thing ...

I'm taking off some time this month, so the newsletter that would normally arrive on Sunday, August 27th may be delayed a few days.

Until then,

May Jupiter's blessings be your constant companion,
