ADVENTURE ALBANIA
Greetings Friend -

This is the best time of the year to find and plan some of your adventures for this year of 2024.

My first advice is: Go some place that you've never been.

Why?! It's good for the brain, the body, and the spirit to explore and have a bit of adventure.  There are many great lands to explore on this planet -- and we like to find some that are a bit less known.

Everyone knows about Albania’s next-door neighbors Greece and Italy, but very few know about Albania. The Ancient Greeks and Romans certainly did, who built cities, villas, and resorts still there today. Today, only the most experienced world travelers know what a wonderland of magic beauty and great adventure Albania is. We invite you to become one of them.
This expedition is to experience the stunning natural beauty and thrilling adventure combined with magnificent World Heritage Site history, charming hotels, great food, marvelous wine, and wonderfully hospitable people so easy to make friends with.

Here you see Butrint, The Greeks built it first as Buthrotos, starting in 800 BC. For the Romans, it was Buthrotum, filled with villas, amphitheaters, and vineyards. It’s well-preserved.
For those of you who are up for the "thrilling adventure" part, there's an opportunity to do some clear water rafting through the mesmerizing Osumi River Canyon, with its waterfalls pouring over towering rock walls.

It will be co-led with our longtime friend and the most experienced river rafter in the world, Richard Bangs.  And, Eddy Downpatrick will be right there, too!
Oh, did we mention gorgeous beaches on the unknown Albanian Riviera? Ready? We spend three nights at this luxurious resort. Here we go!
We invite you to join us this April 20-30, 2024 - it's a wonderful time to join this exploration of this gorgeous European country.  We keep our groups small, usually 10-12 people to insure a high quality experience!

Blue Skies,

Jack Wheeler, Eddy Downpatrick, and Richard Bangs!

The Call of the World  I want to share my personal Map of the World with you. It's on the wall across from me in my study and it inspires me to see the places in between the lines, that I've not yet visited...
As you may know, I’ve had memorable experiences in every country in the world. Ever since I was a young teenager, the world has been calling me to explore it – and I’ve been responding deeply to that call for well over sixty years now.

And yet… and yet… I must confess to you that I’ve barely begun, barely scratched the surface of the wondrousness of our Earth.

There is a literal endlessness to what there is to learn, witness and infuse your soul about the history, culture, people, and sheer magical beauty that surrounds our planet.

Can you feel it – the world calling you to experience and explore it? The call may be loud and persistent. It may be faint, drowned out by the daily humdrum of life – or under the illusion that you’re too old or somehow unable. But however loud or faint, it’s there in most of us – for how else did we humans populate the entire globe? To seek, to know, to experience, to explore is a very deep part of what it is to be a human being.

The Call of the World is part of the glory of being human – of using our unique, unique of all life on earth, capacity for self-consciousness, of our human ability to appreciate and live in gratitude for being a part of this glorious Earth and Universe.

You know that for almost a half-century now that I’ve made a living enabling people to respond to the Call of the World. In 2024, that response will be in Africa’s Serengeti, Albania, Scotland, Mongolia, Central Asia, the Himalayas, Bhutan, the South Pole, and Atlantic Paradise Islands.

I am hoping, of course, that you will be joining me on at least one of these explorations. More than that, however, I want you to answer the Call of the World that most resonates within you.

Is there a forest, a scenic wonder, a historical town or place near you that
you haven’t been to and wondered about? Bet there is. What about somewhere nearby that your kids or grandkids don’t know about and would think is very cool?

Whether the Call of the World in you is to the back of beyond or around the corner, life-memorable experiences await once you answer. In all history that’s been or will be, our earthly existence happens only once for a tiny moment in time. I urge you to answer the Call of the World while you still have that time. Carpe diem.
