Meanwhile, let me tell you a story. Three years ago, Jack went out to find this small tribe of Hadza -- he did and brought them back! Above Jack and I are with our Hadza friends, who live on the land as true hunters and gatherers, the original way humans lived. This is extremely rare.
They roam in small groups or bands of 20 or so. What you see them wearing is what they own. No backpack, no village, no huts, no animals, no agriculture, no phone, no water bottle. They hunt until they take down an animal, then stop wherever they happen to be -- make a fire and have a feast. At night, they lay down on the ground by their fire and sleep. (No blankets, no pillows.) When the food is gone, they move on. It is the simplest life imaginable. I sense that they are happy.
Now we've met with them, danced with them, and gone on nature walks with them four times over the past 3 years. We feel a deep "human to human" affinity with them, as have our clients who come on our safari. (On the left end in the yellow cape is a Hadza man who also speaks Swahili so he can talk with people in our camp who can speak English.)
March is a wonderful time and location to see the animals birthing and training their young. Our safari partners create a remote camp that we fly to in the bush. They set up en-suite luxury tents, serve us delicious meals, and take such good care of us. Twice each day we drive out to watch the animals in this completely natural and private setting. It feels deeply connecting to the earth and life.
