I hope you're having a great week! :)

Time has gotten away from me a little this week and the looming holiday season has taken up most of my time today.

I've bought a few presents and now have a much better idea of what I'm getting for everyone, so I feel a bit more relaxed.

I had a bit of a scare yesterday when I was updating the plugins on my blog...

I use a plugin to update and manage all my blogs, so at first I didn't realise what had happened...

But when I went to look at my blog, there was nothing but a message that read:

“Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute”.

Eek!

If truth be told, I might have had a teensy panic...

I refreshed the page a few times and then tried to login to my admin panel...

Same thing. Uh-oh...

So I searched google for an answer.

I also asked the advice of a couple of friends on Skype, but they were obviously busy and not responding, so I was on my own...

There wasn't a lot of information available online, but eventually I came across a forum post that contained the answer.

Thankfully, fixing the problem was simple.

I just had to use FileZilla to find a file called .maintenance in the main folder of my website and delete it.

As easy as that. My blog started working again straight away. Phew! :D

So there's a little tip for you if you ever find yourself in the same situation.

To read about what to do if deleting .maintenance doesn't fix the problem click below:

As an aside, please remember to keep your Wordpress sites updated. That's Wordpress itself, plugins and themes. As I said in the Facebook group, outdated software on your site can be a security risk.

Feel free to hit reply and ask me questions or tell me what you're working on right now...

Or stop by the facebook group and do the same. I'd love to see you there :)

To your success!

Sally
