Disaster was averted today...
The casing of our electric shower was cracked...
A little puzzling, since we couldn't think of anything that may have caused said crack...
No problem though - we have an extended warranty, so we called out an engineer, thinking that the front of the unit just needed replacing...
Well... when the engineer took off the cover he revealed a mass of melted wires! Yikes!
It turns out the wires had not been screwed into the terminal properly and they were overheating. It was basically an electrical fire waiting to happen... In a wet area!
We've been using that shower on a daily basis! Makes you think...
Well mostly it makes me think that I would like to have some choice words (not all of them polite) with the electrician who charged us an arm and a leg to install it in the first place! Grr!
