Subject: Serious Burn-Out, Zoos & Xbox...

Hi there!

Sally Lazarus here.

I hope you had an awesome weekend! :)

I actually took the whole weekend off... Crazy, I know, lol!

It's the first time in I don't know how long I had any real time off. Even when I was on vacation last October I worked a couple of hours every day.

To be honest the WP Security Decoded launch really took it out of me. It caused serious burn-out. My body pretty much told me to stop. And there was just no arguing with it... ;)

I was just so drained and my motivation had fallen so low it was probably somewhere near the centre of the Earth. Lol!

So even though my husband is away (which is generally a great excuse to work, work, work...) I spent most of the weekend just relaxing, watching telly and playing Lego Lord Of The Rings on my Xbox (yes I'm an uber-geek. What of it? :P)

I also watched a film called We Bought A Zoo, which is actually pretty motivational! And I discovered that it's based on a true story about Dartmoor Zoological Park which is only about 2 hours drive from here... I wonder why I've never been? This must be remedied soon...

I've eased myself back in gently today, but I'm definitely feeling a whole lot brighter tailed and bushy eyed ;)

So I guess the moral of the story is that no matter how dedicated to success you may be, working all hours of the night and day is not necessarily the smart way to go about it...

Make some time for yourself and for your loved ones to have some fun. Life's too short to spend it working to the exclusion of living and I will be making more time for myself in the future.

Before I go, I just wanted to check that you read my email on Friday about updating WP Super Cache and W3 Total Cache, which pose a security risk. If you missed the email I've pasted the important part below my signature.

I'll speak to you again soon

PS My WordPress security training WSO is closing on Sunday and when it moves to our own site the price will be going up to $27, so if your WordPress sites are still vulnerable to hackers, grab it now, while it's still under $15:

Update WP Super Cache and W3 Total Cache now

Now, I've just read in the Sucuri blog that a couple of popular plugins have some serious vulnerabilities, which leaves your blog open to "PHP Code Injection"! Eek! =:-O

Now you may or may not understand what that means. I don't fully understand it, but trust me, it's bad...

It would basically allow an attacker to "inject" malicious code into the cached pages of your site just by placing the code inside a comment...

Which your server would then execute...

This poses a huge security risk...

So if you use WP Super Cache or W3 Total Cache update them immediately!

Plugins and themes are often updated to fix exploits so I hope your can see why it's so important to always keep your WordPress sites up to date?

I've been pretty guilty of not bothering in the past, but no longer!

You can use a plugin called Wordfence which can be used in addition to the plugins Bobby talks about in WP Security Decoded to keep your blog secure...

And the major benefit it offers is that it will scan your site and email you when plugins or themes need updating...

I can't tell you how helpful that is. You can get all your sites updated quickly before any sneaky hacker uses an exploit against you.

You can download it free from  here:

==> http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordfence/

Or just search for "Wordfence" from Add New Plugin in your site's dashboard.
