Session 011 Video Recording Now Available
Session 011 Notes

(1)  Our GET group continues to grow!

There are currently 161 people registered from 25 countries, with 24 participants
      in attendance this week.

(2)  Topical focus:

      >  The "Six Basic / Essential Exercises".

      >  Developing and maintaining equanimity in light of – or despite – current events.

      >  Main theme tonight: exploring the meaning of "guidance" and the foundations
           of spiritual guidance.

      >  Understanding spiritual "reproach" by it's original meaning of "guidance to take
           a new approach".

      >  For every human being, guidance in esoteric training begins at least as early as
           birth.

      >  The power that raises infants to uprightness and that raised Christ from the
dead is the same power available to us for the transformation of our lives.

      >  Rudolf Steiner posits a question Martians would ask of humans.

      >  Discovering who the living Spiritual Guides are in the world today.

(4)  Seeking additional Wise Cosmos team members:

The number of people in the global Wise Cosmos community is expanding.
We grew an amazing 62% from January 2020 to January 2021.  Together we
represent 59 countries.  We are 64% North American, and 36% other nations.

In order to improve our service, the Wise Cosmos team has also grown during
this period.  One year ago we had four team members spread across three time
zones.  Today we have nine team members stretched across six time zones.

In order to continue effectively serving our growing, worldwide Wise Cosmos
community, we have an immediate need to hire three more team members:

      +  Data management coordinator.

+  Website programmer (Laravel, PHP, CSS, Vue, BitBucket, Ubuntu).

      +  Social media coordinator.

For details, contact our Operations Manager, Jodi Chandler, at Jodi@wisecosmos.org

(5)  Seeking additional project volunteers:

Wise Cosmos is looking for volunteers of many kinds.  At this time we are
particularly seeking people to contribute their creativity, energy, and time to
      the following projects:

+  Transcribing videos, mostly by Brian Gray, into transcripts for use in creating
video captions in service of those people who are hearing impaired and for
whom English is not their primary language.

+  Translators of ANY language (other than English) to translate video transcripts
for use in creating video subtitles in service of those people for whom English
           is not their primary language.

+  People who can help us create a unique anthroposophy lexicon/wiki.  Our
most immediate need is someone to take the lead setting up wiki software.
Also needed are those interested in researching and creating the lexicon and
          wiki entries.

+  Other projects and roles.  If you have skills or talents that you would like to
contribute in service to the Wise Cosmos community, let's explore the
          possibilities together!

For details, contact our Senior Editor, Julia Belgrave, at Julia@wisecosmos.org.

Invitation to a Six Basic Exercises Practice Group

During our GET 011 Community Conversation time, we focused on exercise three of the Six Basic / Essential Exercises.  Below is information regarding an online practice group that meets weekdays for 15 minutes.  It is open to anyone.  Join us whenever you are available to do so.

The group meets every weekday from 12:00-12:15 PM Eastern Time (UTC -5:00).
The Zoom link is:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/266986103?pwd=bXU4a0EvMmJkMDZTR0Rqcm0xZ0pUZz09

Below is the original invitation from the 6BE facilitator, Angela Foster, who also attends GET:

History of the group: From March to September of 2020, a group of 20+ students of anthroposophy created a practice together for 120 days. Seeking an antidote to the rising feeling of uncertainty brought forward by the pandemic, we came together to practice the exercises often referred to as Rudolf Steiner’s Six Basic Exercises. We learned a lot about ourselves and each other, and experienced the benefits of peer-supported daily practice in an online, group setting. A new session is forming now (October 2020), based largely on the experiences of this pioneering group.

What we do: Each weekday you are invited to join in a 15-minute practice group focusing on Rudolf Steiner’s foundational exercises. We begin the time each day with a 5-minute leading thought focusing on one aspect of the practice. We follow that with a 5-minute period in which we turn off our cameras and microphones in order to practice on our own.  After the 5-minute bell, we take 1-2 minutes to journal about our experience, and then end the call with a 3-minute closing thought. On October 19 we will start by focusing on the Concentration Exercise for 4 weeks before moving on to the second exercise.

Introduction to the Six Basic Exercises:
If you are new to these exercises or would appreciate a review, this 12-minute video presented by Brian Gray of WiseCosmos.org is an excellent summary: https://vimeo.com/308654968

Why we journal: We acknowledge that as students on the path we can become spiritual researchers. Our daily practice and our own biographies can become research when we are conscious of what we are working towards.   When we write notes in our journal, we bring more focused will to our practice.

Co-creating the space: The intention is that this practice group experiences co-creating the practice vessel, with each other and the spiritual world.   We all need each other to show up in order for the vessel to be real and evolving.  All participants are invited to bring in a leading or closing thought. Just email me to let me know that you have something to share.

Short & sweet: By keeping the entire call to only 15 minutes, we hope to make it accessible to everyone in the midst of daily life.   Bringing leading thoughts that are limited to 5 minutes allows us to hone “what is essential” and trust that a valuable lesson can be revealed through time.   Each weekday come when you can, and leave when you must.

Staying simple: I am sensitive to the amount of email that many people must deal with.  I will try to only use email when it is essential.   Rather than sending resources and follow-ups through email, we post to this Padlet page, which is free to join: https://padlet.com/programs4/6BE

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Love from Atlanta,
Angela
