| All of a Feather
The idiom "birds of a feather flock together" appears in literature at least as early as 1545 AD, but as a proverb and metaphor it likely goes back much farther in history.
It seems fitting to use Feathers for our newsletter that highlights events sponsored by other organizations. It reminds us that there are other "flocks" worth getting to know, building relationships with, and learning from. |

| | International Members’ Forum of the General Anthroposophical Society An opportunity of notable and potentially historic significance is launching via Zoom on November 2.
A working group of members of the General Anthroposophical Society from various countries has developed an initiative to create a forum through which thoughts and experiences can be exchanged in greater depth at an international level. This has the potential to become a very fruitful initiative.
The first international members’ forum will take place via Zoom on November 2nd, from 9am to 1pm Eastern US time (15:00 to 19:00 Central European time).
In the spirit of the Christmas Conference, Rudolf Steiner repeatedly emphasized the need to develop a higher sense of responsibility and a truly anthroposophical community consciousness. With this in mind, the initial aims of this initiative include designing a viable process to enable the following urgent global exchanges based on the international cooperation that has already begun:
|
| > Creating a suitable space for the free spiritual life in the General Anthroposophical Society within which all relevant topics can be dealt with worldwide, and thus to enter into a process that enables us to develop well-founded judgments and also action-oriented approaches. > Through the forums, to connect GAS members at the periphery with the Society processes occurring at the center, and the center with processes occurring at the periphery, in a way that goes beyond the Annual General Meetings.
> The relevant topics for the forums would also include those topics that concern not just the Society but the Anthroposophical Movement. In this way, the Anthroposophical Movement would work with intention toward integration into the Anthroposophical Society.
|
| At the forum, everyone is welcome to make suggestions.
Please see the attached document for more details about the aims and intentions of the Members’ Forum initiative, and about the upcoming November 2nd meeting in particular.

| | | | The Threshold Experience in the Light of Christianity for the Next Two Millennia Intensive Course in Michigan, USA.
Dates: October 31 - November 3, 2024 Cost: $275 plus meals and accommodation
This Crossings event, as a retreat, explores profound spiritual and philosophical concepts by Rudolf Steiner, including the Threshold Experience in light of the Golgotha event, the influence of spiritual guardians, and the relationship between humanity and the Being of Christ. It addresses the journey from perception to self-awareness, the interplay of human and divine will, the image of Mary and her mantle, and the dynamic of light, darkness, and clarity from the Goethean point of view. Key themes include the role of Christ, the journey of life between death and rebirth, the impact of materialism, and the roles of wakefulness and dreaming. It also covers practical strengthening spiritual exercises, ways to support the deceased and their families during threshold crossings, and work with those across the threshold.
This process of exposure to spiritual content, meditation, and social sharing within an environment of sacred respect for others constitutes the central dynamic of the work in these four-day intensive sessions.

This issue of the journal includes articles by authors from throughout the U.S. and around the world, each addressing the enduring significance of the Christmas Conference 1923/24 in the context of contemporary experience, together with what is discernible as a call from the future. The issue also includes beautiful reproductions of the arts of the Goetheanum plus member news.
Note also that this journal issue is relevant to preparation for participation in the GAS International Members' Forum on November 2. |
