Barsha MB Tasting Room - Wine Club Updates

February, like Barsha, is all about LOVE. February’s wine club is inspired by Valentine’s Day and will certainly have you crushin’ all month long. Classico brings a lovely sparkling rose frizzante and a big sexy cabernet sauvignon. Riserva offers a flirty minerally pet-nat sparkling rose and a seductive elegant pinot noir.

Cheers to the month of love!

Terre dei Buth Frizzante Special Cuvee
90% Glera, 10% Raboso
Veneto, Italy

Sparkling rose from the Venetian region. A blend of Glera which is the varietal used to make Prosecco gives this cuvee its liveliness. The rest is made up of Raboso which is an indigenous varietal to Veneto in Italy, well known for its hints of red berries and smooth taste.
Fresh, fruity with hints of gooseberry and redcurrant. Certified organic and vegan approved.

Pair with pasta, pizza, and summer salads.

Food Pairing: Israeli Summer Couscous Salad

Requiem Cabernet 2017
Cabernet Sauvignon
Columbia Valley, Washington

This Washington State Cabernet packs a lot to love. Requiem takes a scientific and biodynamic approach that is paid to all aspects of the vineyard measuring all aspects of the ripening process, only harvesting when the tannic properties, sweetness, and acidity are just right.
The nose shows upfront sarsaparilla, with plum, dusty currant, oak, peppercorns, sweet blackberry, and light minerality. The palate is ample with currant, blackberry, and oak spice dominating.
Pairs well with pretty much all red meat, but try it with eggplant. Together, the bitter veggie and the tannic wine sort of cancel each other out, making the wine rich and smooth.

Food Pairing: Moussaka

NV Clos Roussely ‘Favorite’ Petillant Naturel Sparkling Rose
50% Grolleau, 50% Cabernet Franc
Loire, France

Pét-nat, or Méthode Ancestrale, is a method of sparkling wine production used all over the world. Unlike traditional-method sparkling wines, like Champagne, which add sugar and yeast to dry, still, wine in order to trigger a second fermentation and produce bubbles, pét-nat works by bottling wine that is only partially fermented.

As the first and only fermentation continues in the bottle, the resulting carbon dioxide (CO2) is trapped. After a period of rest that can be as short as a couple of months, the gas is absorbed into the wine as bubbles and the pét-nat is ready to drink.

Tasting notes: strawberry, rhubarb, good minerality, nice acidity, and fine bubbles.

Would pair well with chocolate and or chocolate-covered strawberries for a nice Valentine’s dessert. Herb goat cheese with crackers or fresh baguette drizzled with olive oil would also go well. Looking for something more hearty try with creamy risotto.

Food Pairing: Creamy Risotto

Moorooduc Estate Pinot Noir 2016
Pinot Noir
Mornington Peninsula, Australia

This Australian pinot noir will certainly have you falling over heels for it. Elegant, rich, and seductive. The wine is dark in color and fruit expression, with exotic spice perfume and wonderful structure, complexity, and length. Velvety firm tannins and bright acidity that balance the depth of the fruit.

Pinot noir is versatile and can pair well with anything from salmon and other fatty fish, poultry, casseroles, or stew.

Food Pairing: Roast Duck with Figs
