April Wine Club!

We’re traveling to Oregon this month! Wine has been produced in Oregon since the Oregon Territory was settled in the 1840s, but winemaking has only been a significant industry in the state since the 1960s. Wine production stopped in the United States during Prohibition, and the wine industry lay dormant for thirty years even after Prohibition was repealed. The Oregon wine industry started to rebuild in the 1960s, when California winemakers opened several vineyards in the state. This included the planting of Pinot noir grapes in the Willamette Valley, a region long thought too cold to be suitable for viticulture. The state also grew strong ties with the Burgundy region of France. This month, enjoy our fantastic selection of Pinot Noirs, Pinot Gris & Chardonnay from Willamette Valley!

Adelsheim Pinot Gris 2015
Willamette Valley, Oregon

Established in 1971, Adelsheim is a family-owned and operated winery with estate vineyards located in Oregon's northern Willamette Valley. Over the past 41 years, the Adelsheim Vineyard estate has grown to include twelve exception vineyard sites throughout the Valley, totaling 237 acres.
Crisp, bright flavors with aromas of white peach, mineral & pear blossom. It pulls off the difficult feat of providing a gentle creaminess with rich, mouthfilling texture and long finish, yet crisp and clean. Try it with mildly spicy foods such as ceviche, not so mildly spicy Thai cuisine, rich fish entrees, and even classic oven-roasted fowl.

Coelho Atracao Pinot Noir 2015
Willamette Valley, Oregon

A family-run winery owned by Dave and Deolinda Coelho who produce estate Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Portuguese varietals and port-style dessert wines, all of which carry Portuguese names reflecting the family's heritage. The estate vineyard consists of 28.5 acres of Pinot Noir (Pommard, 777), 1 acre of Pinot Gris, and .5 acres of Chardonnay. Aromas and notes of black cherry, black raspberry, with hint of rose petals, clove, anise and allspice. Hints of earthiness, beautiful tea-like finish.

Walter Scott Chardonnay "La Combe Verte” 2015
Willamette Valley, Oregon

Ken Pahlow and Erica Landon are the couple behind Walter Scott Wines. The operation is named for a grandfather and a nephew on Ken’s side. It’s a small business, young and altogether passionate, with solid financial underpinning.
A blend of fruit from three vineyards, all cool and edgy, this is lean, calling to mind village Chablis with its terse, lemony spine. Its almost chewy, gravel-dust texture gives the flavors plenty of length.
Cellar it to serve with lemony seared scallops. (490 cases)

Broadley Vineyards ‘Claudia’s Choice’ Pinot Noir 2014
Willamette Valley,Oregon

Claudia's Choice is named for Broadley Vineyards co-founder Claudia Broadley. This beautiful wine is made from a section of our vineyard that seems to consistently display a distinctive character. These vines usually ripen a bit later and often set smaller clusters. The Claudia’s Choice wines are not meant to be fruit forward—we want to display the big, dark, and complex character that
typifies our Claudia’s Choice release.

April Cheese & Charcuterie Club!

Spring is in full swing! The best way to enjoy the beautiful beach weather is a with our April picks: tangy creamy vintage cheddar from Barbers paired with delicious Creminelli Felino salami on your baguette. Salami and cheddar are a dream pairing!
(Hint-they taste even better with wine!)
Barber’s Vintage Reserve 24 Month Aged Cheddar
Maryland

The Barber family has been farming and making cheese at Maryland Farm in Ditcheat, Somerset England since 1833. Today the Barber farms comprise 2500 acres of prime Somerset dairy land and are home to some 2,000 dairy cows. They continue to use traditional ‘cheddaring' techniques, combined with a unique collection of traditional starter cultures, to create a truly authentic West Country Farmhouse cheddar.
A deliciously creamy cheese with both savory and naturally sweet notes. Only the very best leaves the farm with the 1833 stamp.

Felino Salami by Creminelli
Salt Lake City, Utah

The Creminelli family has been crafting specialty meats since before the 1800’s in Piedmont and Lombardy. The family raises their animals humanely in open pastures and without antibiotics.
Felino is the most ancient salami recipe on record, it is known as the “King of Salami.” It is the sister to Prosciutto di Parma because anciently and often still today it is made from the prized trimmings of prosciutto before it is salted. Delicious notes of clove and pepper.

Be sure to enjoy with your warm, crisp Barsha Baguette!
