Until about fifteen years ago, I had given up thinking of myself as an artist. I started taking classes with two incredible humans and artists, first Lee Baughman, and later Jane Aukshunas, both lovers of color. I realized that I had been avoiding color all of my life simply because I didn’t think I was good at painting. But I loved color just the same.
Sometimes we avoid what we long for—because we think we’re not good enough.
What kind of sense is this?
There’s no greater joy than helping someone find their colors and enjoy their beauty. Words, stories, poems, memories—these pop with color as surely as these mountains.
