On Not Knowing What to Do

"It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work."
--Wendell Berry

We learn as adults to rely on what we know; when things are hazy or unsure, we return to patterns, people, and habits with which we are comfortable - even when we know they aren't the best for us.

When we sink into the awareness of the body, learning to simply be with ourselves, we tap into our emotions and experiences in an entirely new, fresh way. Life is unpredictable and full of risk, but suddenly alive and full of ideas, support, and possibility.

Yoga for Creativity is an exciting new class I'm teaching which offers time for self-awareness, writing, and discovery. You can break out of writer's block or renovate safe and tired habits in your creative life. At the same time, you'll be practicing a yoga sequence that is simple but powerful, which you can tailor at any given time to challenge you or to ease and refresh. In Yoga for Creativity, we let go of the realm of thinking, where we as writers so often get stuck. For me, I'm nudged deeper into wisdom, experimentation, and joy, experiencing the movements and sensations of my physical form.

If you're feeling stuck in any way, perhaps it's time to let go of old practices and wake yourself up physically and mentally.

What is your way? What is your work?

If, like me, you're still finding out, let's make some discoveries together.

Yoga for Creativity begins April 11, a new writing/movement class with Clark College. As my own personal incentive and gift, I'd like to offer a 30-minute special coaching session to anyone who signs up from this newsletter - including your referrals. The class is designed to heal and support and enliven your creative world. What is more, through our time together we will supply you with the tools to continue practicing yoga and journaling on your own after the course ends.

Meets at 12:00 noon every other Monday, on 4/11, 4/25, 5/9, 5/23, 6/6. Sign up at Clark College.

Oh and there's more good stuff.
