Subject: Christi Krug's Wildfire Writing

"Resistance and change often begin in art,
and very often in our art, the art of words."
--Ursula Le Guin
How can you deepen your practice of art this fall?

In Ursula Le Guin's acceptance of her National Book Award last week, she said, "We need writers who know the difference between the production of a market commodity and the practice of art."

Writing to make money has its place in work and society. But to practice art goes far beyond that, and may not include payment. To tell your story, to express what you see, to show the beauty of your truth and perspective - these things can change the world.

Join me in celebrating the passion for creating art this fall.

It's the last day of National Novel Writing Month, and we're going out with a bang! Let's write together. Grab a cup of coffee downstairs, meet me on the fifth floor of the library, and we'll see how much we can capture on the page.
