| Dear Friends,
We are most pleased to announce that Wilbur is open again and accepting reservations for the first time since the Ridge Fire on July 20. We wish to acknowledge Wilbur’s Stewardship Council Members, the entire Wilbur team, cherished Elders and everyone whose prayers and hard work helped us re-open the sanctuary in a little less than a month. Our deepest gratitude goes to the Firefighters, local and beyond, for saving Wilbur and for saving so many well-loved places each and every fire season.
Thank You All!
To our cherished guests, we look forward to reconnecting with you and welcoming you back to the waters!
Sincerely, The Wilbur Team

| | | After the fire, many of you receiving this newsletter asked for ways to help. Because of circumstances resulting from the fire, which burned most of Wilbur’s lands, it was not plausible to have additional people on site. Now that our water system is back up and running, we would certainly invite you to help in any way you feel called. Make A Reservation - The best way to help is to come for a visit! Make a reservation and stay with us for a day, a night or a few nights. This will be the greatest help of all and will breathe life and energy back into the Sanctuary.
Work Trade Opportunities - we have many available dates. Participating in our Evening Attendant or Land Stewardship work trade programs are a huge help. They allow you to work side by side with our team to care for the property and our guests, and provide us with extra hands for projects.
If interested in doing work trade as an Evening Attendant, please email us with your availability, particularly any weekday availability for the next month.
If you are interested in working on the land, we will be holding Land Stewardship work parties most Mondays and Fridays through the end of September. Please use this form to submit your availability and learn more about this opportunity. Make sure you are on our Stewardship List for future work trade notices! |

| Upon your return, you will notice a great deal of burned ground. The fire came over Molok Luyuk (Condor Ridge) and swept right through most of the Nature Preserve. Wilbur’s structures were not damaged, and the hillside behind the bathing area was not burned. The wildlife is still all around us and our Land Stewardship partners remind us that fire is a natural part of the ecosystem. We already see new growth beginning to appear. When you return, please take a moment to connect with your favorite places. If planning to hike in the preserve, definitely check with our Front Office team for details on hiking. Air quality has been excellent after the fire, and you can always check that on our website any time before arriving. Safe Travels!
