Holding Space in Time

As we approach the summer solstice, we are reminded of how the Earth's natural cycles influence our own life rhythms. Seasons arrive and fade, and we experience them again in reflection, recalling the vibrant colors of wildflowers once summer has dried the landscape, or remembering the warmth of summer during a cold, rainy winter. As we navigate our own life cycles, we naturally reflect on previous times and dream towards our future.

Here at Wilbur Hot Springs, our team holds space for you to visit when you choose, but we also hold something less tangible and more meaningful: a sanctuary in time.

To enter this stillness is different from inactivity, which would be more like being calm in a physical space. Rather, it is what was beautifully described at one of our recent gatherings, a "joyful pause," which resides entirely in time. Because it transcends material things, it is a sacred space all its own, allowing us to simply "be."

Indeed, the time you experience here is yours everlasting. You may return to it in times of reflection and carry it with you always. While you may return here physically and find that the landscape or the buildings have changed in subtle ways over the seasons, that sense of joyful pause - in time - remains virtually unchanged.

Dear guests, may you experience Wilbur's "sanctuary in time" in myriad ways: whenever you need space, we have time - for you.

Stewardship Notes

This month it is exciting to report that we are planning our first prescribed burn on the nature preserve. Our fingers are crossed that weather will permit us to proceed tomorrow morning. We wish to express sincere gratitude to all who helped make this possible, including but not limited to: Paige Tomson of Swiftwater Design, Chief Gilbert at Williams Fire, Chief Close at Cal-Fire, Grandfather Whitewolf who has encouraged us for years to bring intentional "good" fire back to the land, Tracy Katelman, who walked the property 2 years ago to help plan for this, and Ethen Foote, who for years has helped Wilbur in all things fire-related. Many more, too numerous to mention, also deserve our gratitude. Our prayers and intentions extend to tomorrow for a safe and productive burn day!

New Cancelation Policy Effective June 15, 2026:

We would like to give everyone advance notice of our new cancellation policy, which will take effect June 15, 2026. The reason for this change is that, like many other businesses, we replaced our policy during the Covid-19 pandemic, and since that time we have noticed a steep increase in cancellations that has significantly impacted our small business. The details of the new policy are:

Deposit: A deposit of 50% of the total reservation amount will be taken at time of booking.
Cancellation Fee: A $25.00 cancellation fee will be applied to all overnight cancellations, $10 for all day use cancellations. This includes cancellations where the reservation is re-booked.
Refunds: Cancellations made by 5PM, 5 or more days before the arrival date will receive a deposit refund, less the $25.00 cancellation fee.
Late Cancellations: Deposit will be forfeited for any reservations cancelled within 5 days of arrival.
No-Show/Same-Day Cancellations: Cancellations made on day of arrival and no-shows will be charged the remaining balance of the full reservation amount.

We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation regarding these upcoming changes.
