Happy New Year From Wilbur Hot Springs!
Throughout the year, guests bestow their deepest wishes upon the wishing tree. All year, the paper tags hang proudly waiting to be freed. This past New Year's Eve, the community gathered for a small, annual ceremony to honor and release the year's wishes into a bonfire. This year, we shared, we smiled, we empathized, we sang, and we held space for all the joy and sorrow in the world. To everyone who made a wish in 2023, we sincerely thank you for your contribution, and hope your wish is fulfilled or is soon coming into fruition! As someone who has had the honor of attending three of these ceremonies, I encourage anyone who visits Wilbur to stop at the wishing tree and contribute to this beautiful tradition.

Building Community
Historically, Wilbur has been a place of gathering and coming together in community. Starting with the indigenous tribes thousands of years ago, and continuing to this day, people visit these sacred grounds to find healing and connection. An important part of our current mission is to balance the needs of the many communities for whom Wilbur is considered a sanctuary.

As a part of these efforts, Wilbur has created a position which is dedicated to communicating with, representing, and holding space for our various community stakeholders. We look forward to being of service to our various community leaders and many friends and guests in an effort to reinvigorate the sense of inclusion and belonging at Wilbur.

Part of our community offering is hosting a variety of complimentary programs for guests. Our hope is to continue connecting with a variety of performers, healers and programmers as we step into this new chapter of community and stewardship at Wilbur Hot Springs. Please check our special events calendar so as not to miss your favorite offerings!

Land Stewardship
Wilbur has embarked on a new chapter of Land Stewardship this year! We seek to honor the hard work and dedication of many who have helped with this great task in past years by renewing, updating and expanding those efforts to meet the challenges of stewarding our 1800-acre sanctuary. Stewardship projects will be centered around the Nature Preserve, with a focus on invasive species eradication, watershed restoration, and re-wilding with native plants and trees. You may also notice increased flora and fauna around the hotel and bathing areas as we work to continue adding native species to the surrounding beauty.

Having recently dedicated two positions to maintain the focus on stewardship and sustainability, our near-term stewardship plans include several demonstration areas, a stewardship hub, star thistle removal, improving hydrology with beaver dam analogs, and much more. With all of the work to be done, work/trade opportunities are guaranteed to be plentiful. If you're interested in getting your hands dirty, we encourage you to join our work/trade list for future community outreach. We are looking for helping hands in many arenas, so let us know which skills you might bring to the table. We look forward to an exciting year and many rewarding projects.
