THE GOVERNOR VISITS WILBUR

We were honored to have Governor Jerry Brown and his wife Anne join Dr. Miller and Jolee for Guest Chef dinner at the hotel on New Years Eve. Dr. Miller has known Governor Brown for years and has hosted he and Anne at Wilbur on several occasions. Governor Brown is an exemplar of a lifetime of public service and we’re lucky to have him and Anne as part of our Wilbur community.

As noted in our Events section below, we have upcoming Guest Chef Weekend events with seats still available. Come and experience the winter harvest that has taken place at this time in California. You never know who might stop by!
A MESSAGE FROM OUR MANAGERS

My First Tibetan Cranial
In keeping with the monthly tradition of writing about new experiences from a fresh set of eyes, my wife and I recently went outside our comfort zones to see first hand what the holistic healing powers of a Tibetan Cranial can do for us, and with Robert Helliesen serving as one of Wilbur Hot Springs massage and bodywork providers, we decided to explore this concept and bring our thoughts to you.

Sarana Yoga Retreats
April 10-12, May 1-3, May 15-17, September 18-20,
October 9-11
Please join us for a weekend of breathing, chanting, meditation, asana and soaking in the healing mineral waters of Wilbur. Come strengthen your practice while relaxing and rejuvenating your body and mind. We’ll step back from our daily routines and retreat to this sacred land, home to healing waters that have been used for renewal for centuries. Students will practice yoga on Wilbur’s beautiful yoga deck, cradled in nature with the sounds of the breeze and the creek. We will begin each day with chanting and pranayama, followed by breakfast and then an active morning session. In the afternoon there will be time for bathing, hiking, massage and personal reflection time. We will gather in the late afternoon for a restorative yoga session followed by a delicious dinner.

Classical Improvisational Piano by Cosme
January 24-26
Cosme was trained in classical piano as a child, and decades later as an adult borrows from these concepts, fusing into them a musical brand his own, a type of “classical improvisation." Cosme's performance takes place during Guest Chef Weekend.

Guided Meditation with Anyes
February 1-2
Join Anyes in a deep Guided Meditation to unveil the source of spontaneity, curiosity and a big yes to the unknown. Taking risks doesn’t need to mean extreme sports, and there are many creative ways we can spice the day with a little unknown. But only you know how...

Guided Meditation with Shundo
February 8-9
As you unplug and slow down at Wilbur, take another step towards stillness and being grounded in your body by joining a meditation session with Shundo. These meditation sessions are perfect for anyone who is curious about meditation, and also for those who already practice. At each session, there will be guidance in how to sit, and how to train your attention, time to sit in silence, and an opportunity to ask questions. They usually last around forty minutes.

Guest Chef Weekend and Art Show with Lead Chef/Artist Marion Cascio & Chefs/Artists Rachel Fann and Ginny Ray
February 21-23
This is a special Guest Chef Weekend because not only will our chefs Marion Cascio, Rachel Fann, and Ginny Ray offer wonderful, nourishing, and delicious food, they will be presenting their creative Artwork.

Lead Chef Marion grew up in Germany in a house full of cooks and began her training in her parents’ restaurant. Once of age, she studied classical culinary arts in Germany, where she apprenticed in fine French cuisine for three years and cooked in several fine dining restaurants and a health clinic. In 1997 she moved to Big Sur, where she co-created a farm and homestead, raised goats, chickens, and bees and managed an extensive garden.

GUEST REFLECTIONS

“I truly do not know how you could not give this place 5 stars! I am a trauma nurse and in charge of my unit = high stress. I love my calling, but I have learned it means nurturing myself as well. Thank you Wilbur for nurturing me so that I may nurture others! I will be back!”
