Subject:ย Happy New Year Friend! ๐Ÿ€๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅ‚ - SimplyCubaTours

Hola Friend,

Here we are at the end of 2020! We MADE IT! Is it time to yell Jumanji???

What a year this has been. Constant changes, freedoms taken away, travel restricted, and people torn apart from their loved ones, just to name a few. 2020 also brought some good things with nature regaining some strength! So good to see clear waters in Venice again! (even if only on pictures) ๐Ÿฅฐ

Like with anything, 2020 is what you made it! It is natural to focus on the negative, especially when it is pouring out of the media. But I urge you to look at what good did 2020 bring to you? In fact I'd love to hear it! I'm always up for good news stories ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

On our end - we survived a whole year apart and still going strong, I guess distance makes the heart go fonder ๐Ÿฅฐ My children survived the Working from Home/Home schooling period unscathed #winning! ๐Ÿคฃ Helped a lady start up her Instagram account she has been talking about for years, YAY! ๐ŸŽ‰... and achieved so many other great things. It's so easy to forget about the great things when you focus on what is not happening or you cannot have...

So I urge you to take some time to reflect on the good things of 2020 before heading into the new year. May be even write a journal, and start a new habit of reflecting on the great things each day with gratitude. ๐Ÿ’ž

I love going through these steps before planning for the new year! It gives those new plans a whole new light and meaning. Makes things exciting! ๐Ÿ™ƒ Have you thought about 2021 yet? What would you like to achieve, bring into your life, enjoy more of?

Whatever it may be, I truly hope that all your dreams come true in 2021 and wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! Will see you on your travels in 2021 ๐Ÿฅ‚

Travel Updates

I can now confirm that you will need a negative PCR test result, not older than 72 hours, with you upon entry into Cuba. You will also need to complete a PCR test at the arrival airport and isolate in an 'isolation centre' (most hotels are set up as such) till you receive your negative test result, which takes about 48 hours. Once you are cleared you can go on to your accommodation, tour, family visit etc.

Cuba has now also reduced the number of planes it allows in from Mexico, Panama, Bahamas, Haiti and the Dominican Republic from 1 January 2021 due to the increased number of cases imported to the country from these areas.

The monetary changes are also taking place from 1 January. ETECSA advised there may be service disruptions caused by the change over. We are yet to test whether that would affect those who are due to recharge around that time or everybody.

With the changeover in currency there are also many reports with prices increases, things like water tariffs, electricity, bus fares, food... well pretty much everything is set to rise, and the ration system is being ceased. So no doubt it will have a knock on effect.

Let's see what the new year brings!

What's on the blog today...

Have to say, as I am looking to have a quiet New Years Eve at home, potentially asleep before midnight, I was reminiscing when I put this article together... We were out in Vedado last year in an amazing restaurant, listening to music, dancing the night away before closing it at wee hours in the morning at a rooftop bar...

Here's to hoping that we can travel again in 2021!
