“I have been a facilitator since 2023. I am 30 years old with four children. As a facilitator, I help participants in the program to develop literacy and numeracy skills alongside other skills and knowledge. Every week, we have a two-hour session. We start by raising issues that we are facing in our community and we prioritize them. Then, we discuss how they can be overcome. After this, we continue with literacy and numeracy learning.
I chose to be a facilitator because I want all people in my community to be able to read and write. My vision is to help them to overcome their challenges when they are preparing their small businesses and in their daily lives.
Since we started literacy, I have seen a great difference from my learners. Now many of them are able to read, write and count, some are doing small businesses, and they are able to analyze their problems and find some solutions. They interact and support each other. For instance, when one of them has a happy or unhappy event, all members go to support them. Love has increased among them compared to how they were before joining the program.
Being a facilitator has impacted me also, because, as I facilitate sessions, my capacity has increased. Before any session, I have to prepare how I will do that. And since I was trained and learned parenting skills, I became a good mother. Now I know how to discuss challenges with my children and there is peace in our family.”
Charity's story highlights the impact of Five Talents' programs on participants and facilitators. The growth and confidence they each gain from our programs has ripple effects in their families and communities, and we hope you are as inspired by them as we are. Thank you for partnering with us to empower women like Charity. |
