Dear Friend,
Last week, Five Talents program staff Maria and Rachel spent time in Malawi with our newest program partners! Together, they put the finishing touches on the program design, which included training and orientation for local partners as well as developing a Theory of Change with a vision to guide the program. The vision decided on by the steering committee and staff at The Diocese of Upper Shire is a beautiful reflection of what they prayerfully hope to achieve through their Savings Groups: Holistic transformation of lives in our church and communities so they become self-reliant through social and economic empowerment.
Each morning Maria and Rachel spent with the diocese began with a Bible study. These included a passage from Nehemiah on the importance of making a good plan as well as guided reflections on how the church can be salt and light to communities through this Savings Group ministry.
The time in Malawi was busy and fruitful as the team finished laying the foundation for our newest program. We look forward to sharing more exciting updates soon.
If you’d like to help bring economic empowerment programs to Malawi and elsewhere, we hope you’ll consider partnering with us by supporting our spring campaign. Thanks to a generous friend of Five Talents, gifts through April 30 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000. To date, we are almost halfway toward our match goal! |
