During an extraordinarily difficult year in South Sudan, the Five Talents team has witnessed hope and resilience from the incredible participants in our programs across the young country.

Today, we’re sharing the inspiring story of Rebecca, a participant in a Savings Group near Terekeka, which sits just west of the Nile River. Rebecca and her neighbors endured unimaginable hardship when a nearby community raided her village, but she and her Group led her community in rising above it in the most remarkable way. They forgave their attackers and made peace with them. Now, they are even rebuilding together the church that had been burned down during the raid.

This story of Rebecca and her community is an important reminder this time of year of the message of peace that Jesus modeled for us here on earth. It takes courage, strength, and resilience to create true and lasting peace in communities but with God’s grace, all things are possible

As we turn the chapter on this year, we pray that Five Talents can continue to be a catalyst for peace in communities across South Sudan and beyond in 2025. And we know that that’s possible with your support.
