Subject: VPOST needs to hear from you about COVID-19

The health and well-being of our community is a top priority for the Virginia Partnership for Out-of-School Time (VPOST). The quick spread of COVID-19 has caused Governor Ralph Northam to take the action of shutting down all Virginia Schools from March 16th through March 27th at a minimum, which has led many afterschool programs to close their doors temporarily. In light of this news, the team at VPOST is taking proactive steps to help slow the spread of COVID-19, including;

  • Working with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to provide up-to-date and accurate information about the virus
  • Providing continuous updates on the status of COVID-19 in Virginia through various media channels (Twitter, Facebook, newsletter, etc.)
  • Providing resources that continue to inform communities about the virus
  • Receiving regular updates from the Afterschool Alliance and sharing them with you in a timely manner
  • Keeping you informed regarding school meal programs and alternative meal delivery when schools and programs are closed
As we learn more each day about COVID-19, we would like to hear from you. Please complete our short survey to let us know about your current situation and what kinds of supports might benefit your program. If you are able to respond by March 18, 2020, VPOST will share information in calls with federal legislators on March 18th during the Virtual Afterschool for All Challenge.

You are doing important work in your community and we appreciate all you do! We will stay in touch and do all we can to help during this unprecedented time.

In Partnership,
Blaire Denson, Executive Director
