Keeping the Momentum Going for Out-of-School Time Funding

Dear Virginia Fund IRL Coalition Members,

This week, VPOST Executive Director Blaire Denson, and VPOST Board Member and Mayor of Harrisonburg Deanna Reed co-authored an op-ed in the Richmond Times-Dispatch highlighting the importance of investing in out-of-school time opportunities for Virginia's children and youth.

On Tuesday, Blaire joined Senator L. Lucas with our government relations team at Commonwealth Strategy Group. As Chair of the Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee, Senator Lucas helped advance $2 million annually in the 2026 state budget to strengthen Virginia's 21st Century Community Learning Centers. VPOST is thankful for the opportunity to connect with state representatives to discuss Fund IRL. These conversations are an important part of building awareness and support for this funding opportunity.
