In 2021, the Virtual Physiological Human Institute conducted a clinical survey among clinicians to collect feedback regarding their knowledge, experience, and opinions about CM&S in the clinical practice. Now, in 2023, VPHi is realising a second and much larger survey aiming at involving doctors worldwide.
POLICY NEWS
On 6 Sept 2023 a meeting organized by EFPIA took place, which brought together a diverse group of stakeholders and influential political figures, including MEP Tomislav Sokol, the co-rapporteur for the proposed European Health Data Space (EHDS).
On 3 Oct 2023 the European Commission has adopted a Recommendation on critical technology areas to assess risks to the EU's economic security.
As the European Commission’s proposal for a European Health Data Space (EHDS) is still being negotiated, Ireland’s relevant preparations are already underway – with Dublin having made it clear that “sustainable investment” will be needed. The Irish government has officially stated that they are in close contact with their EU colleagues during the legislative process.
On 4 October 2023, the draft report of Tiemo Wölken (S&D, DE) on the regulation was published. The Rapporteur welcomes the long-awaited proposals for the pharmaceutical Regulation and Directive, recognising them as pivotal elements of the European Health Union.
VPH COMMUNITY
The entertainment industry popularised Virtual and Augmented Reality, but now, they're providing a valuable contribution to healthcare, from university classrooms to the operating theatre. In this mini-revew, you'll find notable examples of the application of Virtual and Augmented Reality in different contexts.
On October 4th 2023, representatives of the Avicenna Alliance and the VPH Institute landed in Brazil to create awareness around the value of digital evidence and in silico simulations in regulatory processes, but also to showcase in silico models developed by Brazilian universities, establishing vital collaborations to propel the field of in silico.

On 10 October it was the Ada Lovelace Day.
Born in 1815, she is the world's first computer programmer.

DigitalTwin4Health.BE, the first meeting of the Belgian ecosystem on digital twins, has been held in Leuven (Belgium) on 29th September 2023. The session was supported by BO SA – The Belgium Federal agency on Policy and Support.
On 26 October 2023, a conference organized by the D³4HEALTH Foundation, of which La Sapienza University (Rome) is the Hub, took place at the Museum of Classical Art in Sapienza.
During this 2-day event participants discussed opportunities and obstacles in the development and use of immune digital twins in medicine.
On 5 October 2023, iRaise, an international Education Programme co-led by Agència de Qualitat i Avaluació Sanitàries de Catalunya (AQuAS) and ITACA SABIEN (Universidad Politécnica de Valencia) received the award Amparo Poch 2023 “BEST PUBLIC PROCUREMENT INITIATIVE FOR INNOVATION IN HEALTH”
