POLICY NEWS
Two years after the entry into application of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Commission will be reporting on its application across Member States.
The White Paper is open for public consultation until 31 May 2020. The VPHi is preparing a response together with its industry partner under the umbrella of the Avicenna Alliance. Individual members are called upon to send their own input too.
On 4 May 2020, the European Parliament’s IMCO Committee (Internal Market and Consumer Protection) held an exchange views with Margrethe Vestager, Commission Executive Vice-President, on the Europe's response to the COVID-19 crisis.
On 1st May 2020, MEPs sent a letter to Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Charles Michel, President of the European Council, calling to ensure the support of health policies and health systems in the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).

Thank to the use of the UISS Immune System Simulator developed by the team of the VPHi member Prof Pappalardo (University of Catania) a disease model of SARS-CoV-2 has been implemented and used to explore the efficacy of human monoclonal antibodies.
The work done by the Mobilise-D consortium is taken as an example of successful interaction with EMA in the marketing authorisation application (MAA) process.
JRC 3D-printer is used to produce valves for emergency ventilator masks to be distributed at local Italian hospitals.
To honor the memory of Prof. Stephan M. Perren, the Journal of Biomechanics is soliciting articles for a Special Issue to be published in early 2021.
