POLICY NEWS
These papers aim to boost a discussion with interested parties in the medical products development community on using AI/ML in drug and biologic development, and the development of medical devices to use with these treatments.
The use of artificial intelligence in the EU will be regulated by the AI Act, the world’s first comprehensive AI law.
On 26 April 2023, the General Court of the European Union (EGC) issued its judgment in case T-557/20 (judgment of 26 April 2023, SRB v EDPS, T-557/20, EU:T:2023:219) and at the same time made a statement about the distinction between pseudonymised data and anonymous data.
The Innovative Health Initiative has just published the draft topics for the next calls for proposal, calls 4 and 5.

A survey was recently run by the AA PPI task force to identify the current PPI practices and perceptions and to raise awareness on the topic.
The Radical Health Festival took place from June 14 to 17 in Helsinki, Finland. The festival brought together all major digital health stakeholders, from policy makers, payers and providers to tech developers, life sciences researchers and patient groups to revolutionise modern healthcare and make it sustainable once again.
As sponsor of the 2023 International Conference on Functional Imaging and Modeling of the Heart, the Institute had the opportunity to sponsor two prizes for the best oral and poster presentations, and also to award one of its members with a free registration.
On 13 June 20233, the Avicenna Alliance, together with its partner NAFEMS and MICADO, co-hosted the first meeting of the “Etats Généraux du in silico» to assess the situation of in silico adoption in France.

YOUNG SCIENTISTS COMMITTEE
The committee reached a unanimous decision to grant the award to Anna Corti, postdoctoral researcher from Politecnico di Milano, for her thesis titled "Multiscale Modeling of Vascular Adaptation".
Andrea is a PhD candidate under Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions grant in the Disc4all project.
