As May unfolds, many animals begin settling into the fuller rhythm of spring.


Longer days…
more outdoor sounds…
more movement in the environment.


While this season feels alive and expansive to us, sensitive animals often experience increased nervous system stimulation.


More energy around them means one thing becomes especially important:


Regulation.


Animals naturally look to their humans to understand:


Is everything okay?
Is it safe to relax?


And regulation isn’t something we only practice at home.


We can help our nervous systems settle anywhere — during travel, changing routines, outdoor adventures, or simply stepping outside for a few quiet moments.


This week’s practice was filmed at the ocean as a reminder:


Calm is something you carry with you.


Let’s pause together.


This Week's Gentle Practice

This practice helps your animal release accumulated stimulation from daily life; wherever you are.


Nothing to fix.
Nothing to train.


Just settling the shared nervous system.


If your animal is nearby, simply notice them. No calling. No directing.

Settling Together:

  • Sit or stand comfortably.

  • Place both feet on the floor.

  • Rest your hands softly on your thighs.

  • Take a slow inhale through your nose.

  • And exhale gently through your mouth.

  • Take another deep breath in.

  • Let it out.

  • Take another deep breath in.

  • Let it out.

  • Let your breath return to normal.

  • Imagine your feet connecting to the beach. 

  • Grounding into this moment.               

         

          Silently say:


          "I am bringing a moment of peace."
          "I am having a moment of presence."
          "For my animals and me."


  • Enjoy the sound of the ocean.

  • Notice any softening in the space around you.

  • Animals often respond subtly:

         

          a sigh…
          stretching…
          moving closer…
          or peacefully resting apart.


  • All responses are perfect.

  • Take one final shared breath.


Reflection:
Before continuing your day, notice how your body feels now compared to when you began.


Even brief moments of regulation help animals release accumulated stress.


This practice can travel with you — at home, outdoors, or anywhere life takes you.
