Organic Produce Study Flaw: Waste of $ or Not?

September 5th, 2012 at 5:35 am EDT

Hello to you this Wednesday!

In the vein of eating healthier, I encourage you to put some thought into what your dog or cat is eating.

Of ALL the things you do, this is the BIG one that affects health.

My advised Pet Food Report is a great way to start, and you can get it here:

Organic Produce a Waste of Money?
--------------------------------------------

A study which came out in the news yesterday claimed this:

" A new study from Stanford University shows that organic produce probably isn't any more nutritious than the conventional variety.

There isn't much difference between organic and conventional foods, if you're an adult and making a decision based solely on your health," concluded senior study author Dena Bravata."

So now it's OK to eat pesticides?

Hardly

------------------------------
The primary study flaw
------------------------------

Pesticides are OK to eat, as they don't affect vitamin/mineral content

Stanford's Center for Health Policy points how little is yet known about the benefits of organics and the harms done by widespread pesticide use.

The Stanford researchers found studies showing that 38% of conventional produce contains pesticide residue (compared with 7% of organic produce.

This was not considered significant as the chemical traces were supposedly safe, according to the 'EPA' (Environmental Protection Agency.)

There is considerable debate about EPA limits.

In 2010, President Obama's Cancer Panel recommended that consumers eat organic produce, concluding that federal protections are weak and research on the subject is inadequate.

Best Wishes,

P.S. We have some pretty serious diseases increasing in frequency now.

Cancer in many cases is on the rise- certain breeds lifespans are dropping due to cancer frequency.

Food allergies, autoimmune disease have reached epidemic proportions...

Perhaps there is a link between man made chemicals and these diseases?

I think very likely.

I would wonder just how 'unbiased' the study is.

Avoid pesticides/herbicides at all cost.

And learn what is healthy to feed your dog or cat.
