My 4 Older Pets [ Pics]

October 17th, 2012 at 5:19 am EDT

Hi Friend,

I have 4 older pets- they are ALL considered senior.

What do they have in common?

Occasional limping

Stiff after getting up

Reluctant to jump up

Hips/Knees/Back that are uncomfortable when palpated.

The likely diagnosis?

Osteoarthritis

A key to holistically helping our pet with arthritis is with appropiate supplements. The ones I have found to be more effective include glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM.

BUT they need to be in high enough doses, and in the correct formulations.

I have personally formulated my Joint Support Blend with the high enough doses and correct formulations.

This information from Livestrong gives a great summary of the benefits:

Glucosamine Benefits

Glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM are supplements that are used, sometimes all together in the same product, to slow down the progression of arthritis and help manage arthritic pain.

Glucosamine stimulates the production of proteoglycans and collagen in cartilage, bones and tendons. Glucosamine also thickens synovial fluid within joint capsules, which increases its ability to cushion and lubricate joints, especially large weight-bearing ones, such as the knee.

According to the Mayo Clinic, there is good evidence based on human research that glucosamine sulfate is most effective at treating mild-to-moderate knee osteoarthritis, which is the "wear and tear" type. Further, several human and animal studies report benefits of glucosamine treating osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in various other joints of the body. Benefits include pain relief, improved joint function and decreased inflammation. It was noted that it may take eight to 16 weeks before significant clinical changes are experienced.

Chondroitin Sulfate Benefits

Chondroitin is a natural component of cartilage, which is the "shock absorber" between synovial joints. Chondroitin helps to maintain cartilage's spongy nature by absorbing water. Chondroitin may also retard enzymes that can damage cartilage, and it provides the basic "ingredients" for the body to make new cartilage. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, results from several well-designed scientific studies suggest that chondroitin sulfate may be an effective treatment for osteoarthritis, especially of the knee and hip. The studies' findings suggest that benefits lasted up to three months post treatment and included reduced arthritic pain, improved joint function and reduced joint swelling and stiffness.

MSM Benefits

Organic sulfur---the kind your body can absorb and use---exists within the body as methylsulphonylmethane, or MSM, for short. MSM works by making cell walls softer and more permeable, enabling the body to quickly wash out any foreign particles, free radicals and toxins. MSM also competes for receptor sites located along mucous membranes in your lungs and gastrointestinal tract, which makes it difficult for harmful allergens and parasites to attach. MSM has no known side effects, according to the MSMGuide.com, and is about as toxic as water. Some additional patient-reported benefits include more energy, reduced allergic reactions, better skin complexion, healthier looking and faster growing hair and fingernails.

P.S. Do the supplements work?

Well it depends what study you read..

There was a recent study which claimed that Glucosamine was essentially worthless, and it's all one big placebo.

You can go to a site such as 'quackwatch' which will give you all the 'facts' and 'debunk' the supposed benefits.

BUT with animals the placebo effect doesn't really come into play.

Either it works...or it doesn't

I advised hundreds of clients to use Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM supplements long before I ever had my own supplement.

And overwhelmingly these clients saw improvements in their dogs and cats.

In other words...they DO work.

If you have yet to get your aging dog or cat on a joint support supplement, I encourage you to do so. At least ensure it contains Glucosamine at 100mg/10lb and Chondroitin at 50mg/10lbs. The MSM is very complementary, and should be included at the dose of 50mg/10lbs.

I'd prefer you try my supplements, and you can get them shipped directly to your door.

I have now hundreds of very positive testimonials, from both dog and cat owners.
