Hi Friend,

Welcome to Monday!

My son and a few friends celebrated their birthdays yesterday, but being 14 it's NOT called a party :-)

They had fun not being at a Birthday Party..even though they played games, had birthday cake, sang happy birthday, stayed up late, and watched movies..

Drug Company Fraud
----------------------------------------------------

One of the largest multinational pharmaceutical companies recently pled guilty in a 3.8 BILLION dollar fraud case.

GlaxoSmithKline PLC agreed to plead guilty to misdemeanour criminal charges and pay $3 billion to settle what government officials on Monday described as the largest case of health-care fraud in U.S. history.

GSK targeted the antidepressant Paxil to patients under age 18 when it was approved for adults only, and it pushed the drug Wellbutrin for uses it was not approved for, including weight loss and treatment of sexual dysfunction, according to an investigation led by the U.S. Justice Department. The company went to extreme lengths to promote the drugs, such as distributing a misleading medical journal article and providing doctors with meals and spa treatments that amounted to illegal kickbacks, prosecutors said.

In a third instance, GSK failed to give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration safety data about its diabetes drug Avandia, in violation of U.S. law, prosecutors said.

The misconduct continued for years beginning in the late 1990s and continued, in the case of Avandia’s safety data, through 2007. GSK agreed to plead guilty to three misdemeanour criminal counts, one related to each of the three drugs.

P.S. So does this happen for drugs marketed to animals?

Often?

I hope not.

But at times?

Likely yes.

My point in ALL of this is to have you be aware that most of the drugs sold to you as a pet owner, or marketed to your veterinarian, now originate from a LARGE drug company.

Who just so happen to have MANY shareholders.

That want a profit.

Not always in the best interest of your dog or cat.

Such as MORE vaccines, for more diseases.

ULtimately it's up to you to decide- by getting educated, doing some of your own research, and being aware of the alternate options.

Such as herbs, homeopathy, acupressure, and massage.

Here is a GREAT place for you to start, and you'll get my newest video:
