3 natural anxiety options [pets and people]

Hello Friend,

A cheery Monday to you, your pets and other family members

If you happen to have an anxious pet, then you should be aware of some of the natural options.

Research has linked anxiety with immune function, and people who are in this constant state of 'flight vs fight' are sick more often..

( ANXIETY AND IMMUNE RESPONSIVENESS, BERNARD S. LINN, MARGARET W. LINN, AND JOERG JENSEN,)

Stands to reason this applies to our pets.

Meaning the underlying reasons to help your dogs and cats with anxiety are bigger than just the obvious- they have long term health implications.

These are 3 natural options for treating dogs and cats with anxiety. Consider L-theanine and acupressure great long term options, while the valerian is a wonderful short term immediate help. It also works well for people ( as I can personally vouch for)

GREEN TEA AMINO ACID. L-theanine is an amino acid found in green tea.

Studies show that L-Theanine produces tranquilizing effects in the brain without drowsiness. It calms by helping to increase alpha-brain wave activity, the electrical brain activity commonly present when you are very relaxed. By diminishing feelings of stress, worry and anxiety, L-Theanine may help improve mental focus, learning and concentration. The dose is 50mg per 20lbs daily – and it can be given frequently (every 4 hours) during a stressful event.

VALERIAN. Acts on the neuroreceptors in the brain. It may decrease anxiety in your pet. The dose is 50 mg per pound of the dried herb or one drop per pound of body weight twice daily of the extract.

ACUPRESSURE:
YING TANG. At base of the nose between the eyes. Press the point with your forefinger for 30-60 seconds twice daily. Also works for people.

P.S. What Can you give to potentially prevent anxiety in the first place?

Probiotics.

A HUGE link between our gut microbiome and our brain health.
