Gardening Day - Holywell Cemetery Saturday 31 October 10am-2pm
Holywell Cemetery is one if Oxford’s best kept secrets - a haven of tranquillity and a nature reserve in the midst of a busy city. The cemetery is cared for by the Friends of Holywell Cemetery, but they now need our help in order to clear and maintain the grounds. On Saturday 31 Oct, there will be the second of our Gardening Days in the Cemetery. Please send an email to admin@universitychurch.ox.ac.uk if you would like to help. Please make sure that you wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and bring a pair of gardening gloves. If you are able to bring some secateurs or shears, even better. There will be some heavy clearing to do, but there will also be some delicate conservation work to do. With the benefit of some secateurs and a wooden spatula or a wooden spoon (which you would need to bring), you can help to remove the ivy clinging to the gravestones. Everyone can help in some way and it will be a great way to get some fresh air.
