| | | For Specialists: As an ongoing commitment to providing continuing professional development (CPD) to all physicians in Manitoba, the CPD Medicine Program is reaching out in hopes that you might assist us in distributing the 2021 CPD Specialist Needs Assessment Survey.
This needs assessment survey is designed to seek feedback from regarding the continuing professional development (CPD) needs of specialist physicians in Manitoba, by identifying gaps in existing CPD resources and provide direction for improvement in the field.
Thank you for assisting in our efforts to improve the continuing professional development resources in Manitoba.

This two-day intensive workshop will arm you with new knowledge and skills around opioid addiction and the resources available to support this vulnerable patient population. This workshop is a prerequisite training requirement in order to prescribe or dispense methadone and buprenorphine/naloxone in Manitoba.

This two-day course starts with a review of the primary and secondary surveys and initial resuscitation including ample time to practice applying concepts learned. Delivery of the course consists of team-based high-fidelity simulation sessions, which are interspersed with short, small group, interactive case-based or didactic sessions and technical skills sessions for practicing procedures. Topics include head injury, airway management, upper body injuries, abdominal trauma, imaging interpretation and much more.

| | | | The Continuing Professional Development Medicine Program, Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba will offer a 6-hour day preparation course for the College of Family Physicians of Canada Certification Examination on March 13, 2021.This virtual webinar will provide participants with an overview of the examination; we will focus on preparing for the unique aspects of the CFPC exam. Participants will complete a mock written exam following the exam overview.

Newman, PhD Objectives: • Participants will learn to balance ethical principles in deciding about hospitalization. • Participants will learn to apply specific cognitive-behavioral techniques and homework assignments in the treatment of suicidal patients, in the context of a collaborative therapeutic relationship and an astute cognitive-behavioral case conceptualization. • Participants will learn self-help skills to cope with the stress of treating suicidal patients, and to maintain professional confidence and optimism in the aftermath of losing a patient to suicide.
